How on earth can anyone vote these guys back in again? How much disaster on every single front would it take to finally get people to realize that they are not good leaders?

I find it very hard to believe that people would vote for these guys at this point for anything at all. Yet they get votes, we get people here who defend them, and the Republicans are completely terrible.

    I just don't understand it.

Among other reasons, because over one million abortions are performed each year in America, and to some people, electing a President that will appoint and a Senate that will confirm Supreme Court Justices that have the "correct" viewpoint on abortion is more important than all of the things you mentioned combined.

Next time instead of asking a politician what he thinks about a woman's right to chose. Maybe we should ask about overthrowing sovern middle eastern nations.

Well, it takes a rather esoteric fetish. As near as I can tell, that is pretty much what Spitzer paid $4,300 to watch.

That's nice. Did you know that in countries where it is illegal, there are just as many per capita as there are in countries where it is legal?

Gee, the only difference is where it is legal, it is done in a safe manner.

You're hopeless if you think the GOP is going to stop abortions. The only thing they'll ever do is make them dangerous, and women will die from it, in addition to your little cell collection you seem to care so much about.

"I'll never understand how the abortion issue became THE political issue."

Me neither. These people are basically ignorant of the world around them.

You are right, of all years this is the year when the Republican nominee, no matter who he/she is, should lose big.

Yet, the Democrats are finding a way to implode.

Maybe. But it's a long way to November. Keep in mind that we've become used to both parties settling on a nominee long before the convention. It wasn't always that way, and the Democrats may not decide until the convention who the nominee is.

It's unusual only in terms of recent history, but that used to be more the norm.

Also, people have pretty short memories of this kind of squabbling, and once the dust settles, much of how people choose will be based on factors that aren't going well for the GOP (economy especially).

Because its an easy issue to pander. GOP candidates flap their lips about ending abortion, knowing well that it won't happen.

The opposition party does its best with the "bulletin board material" (i.e. Democrats saying "Even George Bush said that Reagan's economic plan was 'voodoo economics.'") but then the nominee says "well, that was in the heat of the primary campaign..." and it usually doesn't make a lot of difference with the voters. We'll see.

Wahoo this is not directed towards you but how does Hilary have a lifetime of experience. Watching your husband do his job is not the same thing. That's like saying Deanna Favre will be the new Packers qb because she watched Brett all those years.
