I would say, eat here if the overall package appeals (though I am very curious, what is it that you do not like about the menu?)

If you grew up going to the drive-in movies this restaurant captures that mood perfectly. I also enjoy the scene with the chimpanzees performing in the St.Louis Zoo...because that was the other thing our family always did growing up in St.Louis,Missouri.Zoo and the drive in very cheap family fun and picnics. Yeah!

We try to eat here on each trip. We love the whole vibe.

But the absolute best thing at Sci-Fi is the cheesecake, which is drizzled with caramel, topped with candy corn, M&Ms and caramel corn. O M G - so good!

Not on our repeat list.

Whether or not you get a "poor server" at 50's Prime Time, I think it is overall a better experience with much better food.

You would think that having so many people mention the food quality, they would do something about it.

When I made my dining reservations they said that I could order a grilled chicken salad. I hope that is true. Glad to hear it is enjoyable except the food. We already have ressies for Prime Time 50's. I have been there a couple years ago and we had a really good server and even other servers at other tables were very entertaining.

I'm not a fan of the Prime Time. I guess I'm an old fart, but I don't like the whole server shtick. I like my service prompt and unobtrusive. The only time I ate there I had the meatloaf, which I did not enjoy.

The food is OK - just go in there expecting "diner" quality food - not "Brown Derby". Stick to the Burger, Ribs, Reuben and you'll be fine. As many have mentioned, the 50's Prime Time is also a good choice - very different than the Sci Fi (I would say that the food is a bit better at the Prime Time). The entertainment - well, the Sci Fi is sitting in "cars" at a Drive-In Theater; the Prime Time is eating at a 50's style Diner with very interactive wait-staff. If you aren't into so much of the "in-your-face" activity, then the Sci Fi might be a better choice; you will be interacting (depending on your wait person - it could be a little or it could be A LOT) at the Prime Time. In either case - you cannot lose - they are both very good choices (IMO).

I agree about the seating arrangement. It is not the place to have a meal in which you are talking to your party since two of them are sitting behind you. Also, for me it is one of those places that I can check off my bucket list. Did it...dont need to do it again.
