How far is too far in the 'screenification' of Disney Imagineering? Toy Story Midway Mania is essentially a video game, the end of Spaceship Earth is basically an iPad App, the Haunted Mansion looks to be getting a new projection heavy finale, etc. Is it fine to use screens if it serves the story and is cheaper? Or does an truly immersive environment demand AA figures to please the senses?

Not enough family centered rides
Don't do live-action shows well(for the most part)
No nightly in-park entertainment
Not enough sit down dining options.
A few dead spots in the Studios park need new attractions
The Toon Lagoon Theater sits empty most of the year
Twister sucks

Soarin' would be Disney's only great use, but the film is in rough shape.

But back on point, I think they need to think about appropriateness at Disney. I do not go to a theme park for screens - I can do that at home. I go for immersion and I have a life long love affair with AAs. Disney have done some fairly decent screen work in the recent past. I think Soarin' is a great example where it works very well. Also the new indoor portholes on the Disney Dream.

But I have little to no interest in TSMM, Turtle Talk (except for the fact the kids get a kick out of it) or MILF.

I do like 360's though, as that is something we cannot do at home. I think the issue is this, if a screen furthers the story that needs to be told, then I am for it. Fully realised sets for Soarin' or O Canada would not be appropriate. But MILF, Turtle Talk and TSMM could have been AA laden attractions, and chances are, I would have been far more into them.

So Indigo, I am totally in agreement with you, I think they have gone too far in many occassions lately, and it is a part of why Disney has lost it's alure to me.

and VBDAD, I hope you know I respect you. But it did seem a little snappy. Is your anger at people finding US have raised the bar while Disney lowered it, or the fact that owning DVC is upsetting when the quality at WDW is lowering (I say this as we own a VC membership at DLP, and am always upset when we see the quality reduce there).

I think the reason the emotions run very high is Disney means the world to most of us. But you must admit they have been striking out on much lately? Cheapening the place with the synergy angle?

Star Tours uses a screen pretty effectively, FWIW. And I think the way they used the projected image in the Living Seas was pretty noteworthy. And, seeing as my whole family enjoys TSMM I'm fine with that as well. I also might be one of the few people that enjoys the Laugh Factory.

There are an awful lot of attractions at the WDW parks. I'm not sure I have felt...yet...like they are overdoing it with screens.

It happens. For me (and my Star Wars loving family) I'm not sure there is a better application for a simulator (short of an actual airplane simulator). I'm not sure how a Star Wars attraction that simulates the feeling of defeating the Death Star could be done any other way.

I don't want a simulator of a roller coaster because I can actually ride a roller coaster. But, I can't well jump into a X-wing fighter.
