Driving directions are pretty simple but for popular shows there is lots of traffic to deal with.
Hotels/motels in the area are EXPENSIVE!! We paid close to $100 for a Motel6.
Hope you have a fun and safe trip.

My daughter & son-in-law moved in with me 1 1/2 years ago and then had a baby (beautiful grandson)and my other daughter had another beautiful baby boy in Portland so that has kept me busy ! Next summer is a big birthday for me so I will be finally making a trip to DL to celebrate !

A quick look at Bestwestern's website shows a spattering of hotel's in the $65 a night range. Generally, you'll find prices falling as you get farther from Palo Alto.

I've been by the Amphitheater dozens of times but I've never actually seen a show there. Make sure you plan for the traffic that will be more like a parking lot once you get off the freeway.

Being from Oregon, I'll assume you know about dressing warm. Too many people have the wrong idea about California weather. We keep a collection of light jackets to toss in the trunk whenever we show guests around. You won't be able to see San Francisco Bay from there, but you will be close enough that it could be cool during the day and WILL be cool in the evening.

    Have fun.

Also, priceline.com has some good deals in the San Mateo/SFO areas(about 20 miles north of Shoreline). Check out biddingfortravel.com for priceline information.
