I enjoyed it a great deal. I loved the whimsical design of the characters, I love the gospel & do-wop music, and Hades is one of Disney's best villians. The scene battling the Hydra was thrilling and funny, the story of Hercules as a media celebrity was a clever angle. Plus, it featured the voice of Rip Torn, another fav of mine. My only previous exposure to the Hercules tales were cornball 1960's movies, poorly dubbed. While I'm sure Disney's Hercules varied greatly from the original tale, I loved the fun-filled spirit and look of it.

The Hercules stories are still there to be read, undamaged by this movie. I loved that the movie started with the epic, sombre voice of Charleton Heston, treating the story with all the pomp and circumstance and reverence one would expect of super serious GREEK MYTHOLOGY and immediately makes a hard left turn into an unexpected direction. It's just fun, and underrated.

I don't care if it doesn't have much to do with the real Greek myths. The story isn't exactly the same, although plenty of parts from the myths are incorporated into the film, such as the lion (which was also a Scar cameo, hehe), Hydra, etc. And the music was awesome. There were funny parts as well as some emotional parts. My 5-year-old sister loves this movie and I'm glad she likes it. I personally don't care about her knowledge of Greek Mythology at this point in her life. The movie conveys a good message, teaching her a better lesson of the meaning of heroism, and as a bonus, it cracks her up. That's good enough for me. Pocahontas wasn't historically correct, but I LOVE that movie. And so many other Disney films have been changed from the original story. It's more, like Kar2oonMan said, an artist's interpretation of a story. This happens with ALL movies derived from books, the changes are just more apparent in some than others. If THIS is the reason why you don't like Hercules, I don't see how you can like ANY Disney movie that's doesn't have an original story. Kar2oonMan, thanks for the Droopy Dog explanation. If I'm not mistaken, he also made an appearance on the Tom and Jerry movie, I just didn't recognize him by his name and haven't seen any of the cartoons.

Heck Pocahontas is REAL history not a myth and they butchered it Hello? Pocahontas wasn't some hot 20-something year old Native American who had a love affair with John Smith, she was a little girl who had no such love affairs with the man. Anyway I think the list is pretty good although Beavis and Butthead shouldn't be there, they were so dumb. South Park's the same way - their humor is even more lowbrow than Family Guy which atleast makes it funny. Not talking pieces of fecal matter, that's just gross. I can't believe the TMNT didn't score higher the same with He-Man. And where is GI-Joe?
