Quite the cliffhanger. Nice to see the quick Adrianna cameo too.

So they're establishing that the FBI has more of an inside presence with the mafia than we thought. Should make for an interesing final season.

I will refrain from spoils, but I must express some enthusiasm. As a Sopranos fan, I am glad this season is FINALY out. The trailers and spots on HBO the last few weeks really worked on me, I was excited and anticipating the first episode of the season because it looks like it's gunna be hot.

Then it happened, at 6:00 PM PST, it comes on, first a bit of premiere celebrity hoo haw, then it started, man just the opening theme song got me going, then another lil surprise early in the episode, one of my favorite counter culture voices pops up doing a lil voice over, I thought it was brilliant. Then a few things were revealed already in just this episode, I was shocked. I think Soprano fans will be pleased this season.

Too bad I don't get HBO or I would have watched!

    mickeymouseclub;

The voice is subculture Beat era writer, William S. Burroughs. The words are excerpts from the book "The Western Lands" it's a routine known as "Seven Souls" Burroughs has a very distinguished elderly voice and distinct way of speaking.

The cool thing is that the seven Egyptian souls are being matched up to 7 of the shows characters. Listen and watch who gets matched up to the "souls".

I'm not sure why his voice would sound familiar, but the first time I heard his speaking voice was in the movie "Drugstore Cowboy" I liked his style of speaking and was surprised that it was actually Burroughs in the movie [since he wasn't an actor] I've since heard many of his routines, as I dont completely agree with his way of thinking nor some of his lifestyle, I do like some of his work.

OMG you cant watch Sopranos??? That's terrible! It'd be hard to catch up on all previous 5 seasons [60+ episodes] but the previous seasons are out on DVD in stores and for rent at Blockbuster

[even I, as a long time fan since the 1st season have to catch up via DVD sometimes]

Don't know if it is possible for all, but IMO the cost of HBO for a season is worth it just for The Sopranos alone.

I choose not to. I am really not a fan of guns and violence and the mafia, no matter how well it may be portrayed.

But believe me, no one was more excited for a client than I was when I read the review in last week's Hollywood Reporter. I couldn't ask for a better bunch of people to work with all the time and I am very thrilled you all like the show so much.

OK, here's the text for that opening monologue:

I don't have the episode recorded any more, who matched up with what?

    I'm curious though...
Is there a cloud of secrecy & security with Sopranos, more so than other projects ya'll do?

They say that even the main stars sometimes do not know the scripts of their counterparts and they have high security regarding the delivery, handling and confidentiality of those scripts. Apparently some do not know what they other scenes are about and have said that is intentional to prevent leaks and spoilers.

At your job, is it more secure w/ Sopranos than other shows?

the monologue was in sync with a montage of clips. There was Burroughs VOX with music in the background.

"Top soul, and the first to leave at the moment of death, is Ren, the Secret Name. This corresponds to my Director. He directs the film of your life from conception to death. The Secret Name is the title of your film. When you die, that's where Ren came in"

** the clips were of Janice nursing her new baby Baccala, as well as husband Bobbie during "Ren"

"Second soul, and second one off the sinking ship, is Sekem: Energy, Power, Light. The Director gives the orders, Sekem presses the right buttons"

** the clips were of Gene during "Sekem"

"Number three is Khu, the Guardian Angel. He, she, or it is third man out ... depicted as flying away across a full moon, a bird with luminous wings and head of light"

** the clips were of Meadow during "Khu"
[side note: those were great clips of Med! ]

"Number four is Ba, the Heart, often treacherous. This is a hawk's body with your face on it, shrunk down to the size of a fist. Many a hero has been brought down, like Samson, by a perfidious Ba"

** the clips were of Ray [the old guy] during Ba

"Number five is Ka, the Double, most closely associated with the subject. The Ka, which usually reaches adolescence at the time of bodily death, is the only reliable guide through the Land of the Dead to the Western Lands"

** the clips were of AJ during "Ka"

"Number six is Khaibit, the Shadow, Memory, your whole past conditioning from this and other lives."

** the clip was of Adrienne during "Khaibit"

"Number seven is Sekhu, the Remains"

the clip was Carmella during "Sekhu"

I am so excited for this, as this is the first time I am actually watching the series while it's airing. I have only previously watched them on DVD. This time, there is too much hype and I can't stand it!!!
