Anyway, I will be back in Florida next week. (hint hint, if you're in the area, let me know, I opened a thread in Meets).

Last December (2009) when Tyler and I were there, he mentioned the Yeti looked different. He said he was really dark and didn't seem to be moving. I told him he was wrong, he looked the same as normal.

Well, my son is apparently smarter than me. We were talking to people later in the trip who confirmed the Yeti was not working and Disney did not know how to fix him. They used strobe lights to make him look like he was moving when in fact he wasn't.

So my question is, has he been fixed? If not, does anyone have any info on what they plan to do to fix him? I just watched one of the Travel Channel specials on WDW (trying to get into the mood LOL) and they brag in the show how the Yeti is the biggest animatronic. But there's no point in bragging if he doesn't work and you don't know how to get him to work! :(

    I really hope he's fixed.

The weight and movement of the Yeti has caused the support of it to become unstable and Disney does not want to weaken it any further. If you do a Google search you will see several articles about it.

Put a strobe light on him and bank that people don't realize that he's supposed to do something more. Lol.

That's a shame. The best animatronic at WDW doesn't even work. What does that leave as second best animatronic? Hopper in Its Tough to be a Bug? They spent all that money on the attraction and the star doesn't work. :(

I guess the real question is why did they spend all that money on all of the above?

Oh how I wish Discovery and Travel Channel would re-air the Everest/Yeti hoopla specials that aired in April 2006....

One of the last times I was at the Animal Kingdom not only was the Yeti in B-mode, Hopper did not even appear during It's Tough to Be A Bug, and what I actually consider the best animatronic in the park, the Carnataurus, had at least two of its iterations (the one that chasing the time rover & the one that takes your picture (replaced at the time with what looked like a cardboard cutout on the left of the time rover instead of the normal location on the right)) not working at all.

The whiplash dino in UOE, several AA's in SSE, the father in the 3rd scene of CoP, several AA's in PotC, HM and Splash Mountain, as well as Wendell in CBJ. All 101.

What was annoying is it was within a few months of EE and Nemo opening.

They have, and it's hysterical. Was eating lunch one day in a restaurant with TVs (With Spirit, no less...) and the Yeti was on screen every few secs flexing his hydraulics. We took this to be a sign... a very humorous one.
