The way it works is you buy lets say 200 points for say, $80 a point. That means you have a purchase price of $16,000. You get to use that many points, (in this example 200) each year. The catch is, it takes about 5 years or so to break even, but once you break even you are staying for free in a sense. I get to use my points every year, over and over until the year...2040 or something like that. And my kids get them when I die. So yes it is expensive up front, but in the end you save huge and you get to stay at very nice places. The KEY IS once you buy in, you have to use it to make it worth it.

For me, there is nothing like taking your whole extended family, providing a 3 bedroom villa, and a couple or three stuido rooms (standard hotel type room). At the end of the week I get a check out statement for ZERO bucks.

The cash value of the vacation on lodgin ALONE would have been thousands of dollars, probably even close to $10K.
So it's just a matter of pay it all up front, or pay more along the way as you go.

I mean I am sure most people drive a car that costs more than the average Dis vacation club membership.

It's right for me, but then I am a creature of convenience, not micro money management.

OKW is Old Key West resort. I want to sell my BeachClub points and buy more Boardwalk points. It has nothing to do with the resort, you can stay at ANY Vacation Club Resort with your points. For me, it's about when I can reserve. You can reserve your rooms 11 months in advance at the resort you "own" in. However you can reserve only 6 months in advance for ALL other Beach Club resorts (that you don't own in.) The rest of why I want to sell BeachClub is explained in post # 12 .
