Very bright and pretty but terrible scripting, wooden acting and limited creativity. Kosinski's Oblivion suffered from exactly the same problems so it wasn't a one-off. I understand the appeal of that universe but it needs to be in the hands of someone who actually knows how to craft a story. I wonder how much this is being driven by Sean Bailey - producer on Tron: Legacy and also president of the studio. Nothing like a vanity project in Hollywood.

Despite being a fairly significant plot point, the Tron/Rinzler story is only briefly hinted at, and CLU isn't explained especially clearly either After hearing the director explain what was actually going on, I thought it was a much better film. But that's hard to understand for a general audience, who will only see the film on its own and miss all of the key information. I thought it did a really interesting job playing with archetypes and allusions, but those were ultimately lost because the storyline wasn't explained very well >>I want this to do well for franchise potential...I WANT A LIGHTCYCLE RIDE.<< Well you're in luck, because they're already building one. You'll just have to go to Shanghai to ride it... : )

Daft Punk's score was phenomenal - it demonstrates how old the AMPAS membership is that it wasn't even nominated for Best Score. It was far better than The Social Network.
