I'm sure Cape Cod Joe will read this, so when you do, I played my first round of the season today...even WITH my new driver!

I shot 42 on 9 holes! 4 pars, 4 bogeys, and 1 nasty double bogey. It was a par 3 that I ended up on a downslope in a sand trap in. Took me 2 to get out, and thus the double. Bummer...

My driver...well, let's just say I"m ecstatic! I was carrying the ball between 265-270 with about 15 yards of roll after that. On lower shots, I would get about 40 yards of roll. I need to find exactly how high to tee it up and where to stand, but it's nice! The main thing I noticed about the Titleist vs. the Callaway is the consistency! With the Callaway, it was usually a guessing game as to where it was going to go. Wiht the Titleist, I was aiming down the right side of the fairway, KNOWING it woudl come back with about a 5-8 yard DRAW!!! This is beautiful!!!

My pick for the Masters...Vijay or Luke Donald. Tiger's always good, and Retief Goosen will be hard.

Underdog pick...Jose Maria Olazabel and Justin Leonard!

I really think I want to play Eagle Pines in Disney as my friend played there in Jan, and a guy from the Ridge played there in November. He bumped into me at Epcot (Morocco) and he told me he had played there that preceding day. He said it was easy (he was our club champ 5 years ago so easy for him to say that) but it seems you think AMATEUR Disney golf, and you think EP!

I can't believe no one is picking Lefty for the green jacket? Maybe a 59 tomorrow will convince people. He has the perfect Masters game.

Eagle Pines has a lot more trouble that might come into play for the less-accomplished player (forced water carries, steep banks and waste-type bunkers) - Osprey Ridge is more a traditional style of course but it gets very difficult over the last 5 holes with lots of hazards and some big water carries.

To Blake mostly about that right to left game. I just played the best golf of my life as I just told my wife (like she really cares right?) I have no idea why> possibly working on the alignment thing? When I was a kid I hit it 220 and averaged 27 putts a round with maybe 4 gir's a round. Today I hit 8 out of 9 greens with 3 birdies (never done that before) BUT 3 OB's and a three putt so instead of 4 under 31, a 3 over 38.
That's why I'm starting to hate this game again It gets you playing the what if game. If only this then I couldn't??
Our assistant pro just got in today from Naples and I told him I'm glad he can worry about this game with the sleepless nights as it does drive a person crazy!
Now if Michelle can break through today in the Nabisco and Lefty can win in Atlanta, with this mid 60's temp on cape and the wife doing the mahogany deck and kids NOT killing each other for a change, life is GOOD without taking GOLF too seriously.

I don't find LBV a particularly interesting course at all. I'm not a fan of courses that snake through resort complexes though so that already puts me off.

I'm with CMM1 as I think Eagle Pines is the best course on property. Heck it is as good as any Central Florida course I've ever played. It can be testy but is a lot of fun especially if you are in a group of mixed ability. I tend to be a big hitter and play a pretty mean game of golf but Eagle is a better leveler than the others as there are plenty of hazards for any player.

In Ryder Cup year I'd have to pick Luke Donald or David Howell (who has had a pretty awesome start to the year). My sentimental heart goes out to Olly though. Still playing a great game and I'd love to see him back in the European team at K Club in September.

Leemac and everyone-Isn't anyone watching the arguably greatest 4 days of golf by anyone in history? Phil is playing the best golf in history RIGHT NOW so I have to change my mind and make him the odds on favorite.
Jose and Retief are also playing great and are multi major champions so I expect perhaps the greatest four days of golf EVER next week.
Every year I call or now E my one friend of 30 in Phoenix and tell him I have butterflies at around 8 A.M. on Thurs. There's just something about the Masters and beautiful Georgia in the spring that makes the blood flow faster.

LPGA--The biggest day in LPGA history is aruguable today as the announcers just said with the changing of the guard. Has anyone, or males in particular, ever seen such physically beautiful golfers in your whole life. Paula Creamer, and my favorite the astonishing beauty and walking wd Natalie Gulbis. Daughter had a volleyball tournament both days this weekend...so only hit 2 buckets at the range -- hoping to start soon.


As far as the waiting game....I am 51 ( in a few days) and never scored better than when I was a senior in HS...there are things I do better now than then, and vice versa...but then that is what separates us from those who do most right, almost all the time.....


in HS -- big hitter -- short iron game was downfall -- now fit the ball 30 - 40 years less in carry, iron game has improved ( I wish I had these darn Pings in HS) - the only constant is I could always scramble due to well above average greens play

Phil just almost aced the 325 yard par 4 13th and then sank the 2 footer for eagle. He just birdied 14! This is historic.
He now has 2 drivers as you know has been his buggaboo. One fades it 295 or so and they other draws it 325. He's averaging 309 off the tee this week and sounds so coooool when interviewed. This could be his time to FINALLY have a Tigger type year.
LPGA has a 3-way tie! Incredible day here

I really think that Phil can keep it going. I talked to my sister last night, the actress in La Jolla, and I spoke of Phil and she said he IS just like he appears, a great family man. She knows him from around town as he is from San Diego. Now he lives by my friend in the Phoenix area.

2 buckets is more than the 20 total non-putt shots I hit yesterday on the front nine. Our range isn't open yet as I would rather hit the buckets than play at this point if I were you. When fdo (first day out)?
Quite the celebration yesterday with the champs starting off on the right foot. Mabybe and hopefully the 2 Sox and hook up this year in the ALCS?
