I asked questions about the room locations at Contemporary and this guy either did not know what he was talking about, or maybe I just never heard of tower room @ Contemporary "facing the concourse." I am taking the room anyways, cuz I want a Tower room, but hopefully when I call next time, the person can give me more details.

The time before last, I called and the person said they havent even been to Florida before, and most of his coworkers have not either. It is hard to ask people certain questions, when they barely know what youre talking about.

I don't know...maybe Im just bitter that I applied for the Disney Reservations here in Tampa a little over a year ago and wasnt even given an interview when I know a lot about the Disney resorts, and here I am always ending up talking to someone who can't tell me much about a resort I havent stayed at before, except what they read at the computer screen.

Just wanted to comment about that, as I am sure I am not the only one who has experienced a not-so-pleasant time calling Disney Reservations.

From what info you gave in your post:
<< tower room @ Contemporary "facing the concourse." >>

it sounds to me like you got your tower room but it's facing inward rather than outward to a view??

I thought my answer didn't make much more sense, so to clarify I got my "Passporter WDW" to take a look.. and yeah, according to the guidebook, there are some 1,041 rooms set up in the A framed building. The rooms face inward to the concourse (where the Monorail passes through) and then you will have some kind of view from your actual room.. Your room faces the concourse when you are walking out of the room.

I would definitely call CRO or someone back to get clarification and finalize any special requests you may have. I think that perhaps this person was definitely new and wasn't quite familiar with the place they were actually making your reservation for.. If they were in the Tampa office, it's quite possible.

It's a bit of drive from there to WDW,but you'd think they'd have all the info right there.. charts and stuff. Unfortunately I do not have that myself. Now if you were staying at AKL, I do have my maps from that.. =)

Yup, I've had the same problem - sometimes the CR is fabulous and sometimes you want to stab them thru the eye with a pencil.

I thought that there would be a price difference for a MK view, but when I tried online, I couldn't see one. If you're still concerned maybe you could look on the map and request a range of room numbers to guarantee your view. But since you've stayed there before you probably have that one figured out. Hope your room wish comes true!

Let me explain it this way . . . if you're taking the resort Monorail from MK to the Contemporary, the rooms in the tower on the right side as you pass into the hotel face MK, the rooms on the left side of the tower face the lake. If you look up at the rooms as you come into the tower you'll see that all of the doors of each of the rooms face the interior of the hotel. If you want a MK view, ask when you check in.

One thing to keep in mind, if your room in the tower is above Chef Mickey's, either the MK view or the lake view, you may get woke up early by all the singing at breakfast! If you're a light sleeper, this may not work for you. When you check in ask for a room that is above the shops. They are much more quiet.

I have to say, although I really like the new decor, very metro New York, I still like the crazy colored decor that is in the rooms now.
