I always loved Westworld and Futureworld movies. I wish Disney could build something like them. There were some pretty neat ideas in those movies. I don't have HBO so I've never seen the new version. Sounds like a lot of naked robots to me.
I'm a couple of episodes behind. I've seen 4 so far I think. Loved the first couple. Then I started detecting a slight sense of "where do we go from here, when we think this might get picked up for multiple seasons so we can't move too quickly so we have to throw in some non-essential stuff..." Not enough to ruin it, but I think it might be better if it was just going to be one season so they could tell more of a coherent story - like a 12 hour movie, if you will. Not sure if this is the kind of story that lends itself to too much open-endedness.
It's been great so far. Generally good scripts, excellent production values and some good actors including Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris and Evan Rachel Wood.
I've been enjoying the show as well. It's getting more difficult to tell the hosts from the players though. I'm curious to hear more about the maze too. It's nice that they're able to go a little more in depth than the movie when it originally came out...and the effects are definitely better as well, but that's to be expected since the movie came out in 1973 and supposedly set for 1983.
