Walt's Barn's Facebook page has posted these cool pictures of a Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland model. Anyone know where I can find more pics? My son was once obsessed with this ride so I know he'd like to look:

No, the post was by Walt's Bart on Facebook. It was at a Fullerton Railroad show.

Doobie - the modeler is named Sam Towler, I believe. He has a facebook page "mine train thru nature's wonderland model" - it's really fun following his progress. He does such a great job!

Sam started out as a janitor at Disneyland...didn't take long for him to get a job in Imagineering, though!

Really well-done model. To see anything that may be better, go up to San Francisco.....
I would have loved to have experienced Nature's Wonderland. Much as I love Thunder Mountain, this is definitely one of my favorite long-time extinct attractions.

My memories are very vague and blurry, but Nature's Wonderland (and the mules etc.) were so much a better fit for the Frontierland theme than Big Thunder Mountain. Not that I blame Disney...and I like BTM. But it's something to remember whenever theme purists gripe about whatever the new thing is at DL (or any Disney park for that matter).

I remember almost nothing about Nature's Wonderland but I know I rode on it since it was around in the '70s. I think it was something we rarely rode. I see lots of pictures of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and POTC/HM/CBJ but this area of the park we never really did. I remember the eyeball from ATIS very well though. Maybe we just didn't spend our tickets on it but used them for POTC and Space Mountain instead?

Nature's Wonderland had closed for BTMRR construction by the time Space Mountain opened.

That would explain it. I must have been about seven when it closed.
