We have stayed there, it was amazing. Loved every moment and can't wait to go back again. It was very expensive though, as we stayed for the busy Christmas week. I would like to go back at a cheaper time.

Aulani looks fantastic, so I'm sure you had a great time there.

We loved Aulani. I'm afraid I don't have any tricks for the room to be a better rate, but I can tell you to shop at the market across the street for dinner and snacks/food other than the restaurants on property. I'm not sure if we just had a bad night or what have you, but the Aulani buffet wasn't the best night of our lives.

I did love the lagoon and the ocean swimming. I spent time there every single day over the pools. The lazy river is nice, too. I think I still have the path memorized.

The snorkel lagoon is really great but beware it is cold water. Still, I spent time there every day, too!

We loved the lazy river, it was so relaxing. We hired a glass bottom canoe in the lagoon and got to see turtles swimming under us, it was wonderful and one of our treasured memories.
We too spent time at the market across the road from the Aulani.
We were told by a frequent visitor to the Island, to make sure to hire our car before we got there, as they can often run out of hire cars in the peak times. We found this to be good advice, as many people were left without a car at the Alamo airport pick up that had not pre-booked.
    Have a great time dagobert.

Funny this thread got bumped. We just got home yesterday from a 12-day Hawaii vacation that ended with three nights at Aulani. This was our 2nd stay, and both times we rented DVC points through David's DVC Rentals. That's my only money saving tip. And with renting points you don't have to pay for parking, which can add up real fast.
