I like the theming of the telephone pole. It's got a real "Old West" vibe to it. :)

It needs another boat ride where creepy dolls sing you a song over and over and over again. Lets throw in some smog creating go karts on rails.

  5. Not sure, but it appears to be sometime between 1957 and 1959, before the Monorail was installed.

Thanks. It's always great to see old pictures of the Disney parks.

The picture also dispels the oft-repeated myth that the DRR was placed "on top of" the berm; in fact, for much of the route, the railroad is inside the berm, as seen here.

FYI, it was very common for telegraph (and later, telephone) lines to run right alongside railroad tracks.

  9. It also dispels the myth that the berm completely blocked out the surrounding neighborhood as evidenced by the lovely telephone pole.

Sounds like Barry Braverman's justification of seeing Katella and the Anaheim Convention Centrr from the new Disney's California Adventure - "it lets the real California into the park."

    Riiiiiigggghhhhhhht
