The Orlando Sentinel reports the Reedy Creek Fire Fighters Association Local 2117 which represents the emergency workers that cover Walt Disney World will be picketing at the Disney Springs parking garage on Sunday – the first day the Town Center officially opens. The workers have been working without a contract for a year and a half and negotiations are currently stalled.
I'm not sure I follow that logic. They're willing to invest in a long-term solution, but somehow the union thinks that means they're ready to talk about changing the day-to-day agreements? More realistically, the garages are owned by Reedy Creek, not Disney, so it's one of the few places that is directly under RCID supervision. Given how infrequent RCID opens anything new or creates any attention, they want to co-opt the event to take the spotlight. It's a logical approach, but don't try to spin it in a way that doesn't make any sense
