Oh, plenty of us great unwashed did! There was a whole thread here about when they closed it to all but Club members. I always saw plenty of people in there, often taking pics. One of my favorite DL pics was taken in there.
Your on a Disney board. You are washed and anointed. Ask a random person that is wondering around the area and find out if they know what is behind the gates. I bet nine out of ten will not be able to tell you. Of course, nine out of ten couldn't tell you the name of the area either.
9 out of 10 tourists, sure. But DL has so many AP's and others like us that are long-time fans even we only go every couple of years. Lots of people know and are bummed it's not available any more - as evidenced by threads here, and the other Disney sites. And by "unwashed" I meant anyone not a club member. Which I'm not. Most big DL fans are not. So it's unavailable now to all us big-fans-but-not-club-members unwashed hoi polloi.
Un I bet even of those club members, most didn't even know that the Court of Angels existed until they had to enter the club that way. Your talking about a very small set of uber fans that would even care about it. I bet even most APs that don't obsess on a Disney board or web site know it existed either. Your talking a few thousand world wide compared to billions.
I disagree. I would bet most DL fans (as opposed to casual attendees) knew about it. In the threads on this board and others, the reactions ranged from "They're taking away one of my favorite places!" to "I mean, I can live with it, but it's disappointing." I don't remember anyone saying "I never knew this existed." Now compared to the worldwide population of billions... obviously, a minority. Among DL fans, not such a minority.
Had I not been on the boards, I'd have known that the Court of Angels was there from having walked through it a bunch of times. I wouldn't have known that it had a name (maybe I insta-forgot it) or was anything that people liked.
I remember stopping by there when I visited as a kid, way back before the internet. We were infrequent visitors that could barely find the major attractions, yet we managed to find the Court of Angels. Sure, we didn't know its name and wouldn't have particularly known if it were blocked off to us, but that doesn't mean that we were incapable of finding it Those clever little "stumble upon" details used to be what set Disney apart from other parks. In addition to adding a lot of depth to the themed area, they also add a little excitement for visitors who feel like they've discovered something special. It seems like Disney adds lots of details these days, but rarely creates out-of-the-way spaces to take a break and look deeper
OMG!!!! Jim, Did you used to have a website, years ago, something like two adults and a kid, something like that?
Yes I did. Still around but very out of date. 2adults1child.com 2oony did our caricature cartoons on our opening page.
