  1. We usually stay at the Park Vue Inn, and since it's being rebuilt soon, I'm afraid at what the rates are going to end up being. My family is already spending about $4000 each trip to Disneyland on flights, tickets, hotel, food, and extras, if the hotels don't level out soon, we'll probably start going even less often than we do now.

Being about a half hour away from Disneyland and go all the time. To make a visit a little more special sometimes we pick a hotel near Disneyland based on the pool. The kids love going swimming and sleeping in a hotel room. Last time we stayed at the HoJo across from the park. The room were actually pretty nice and the new Pirate water park was pretty fun.

We are considering doing the Great Wolf Lodge later this year.

I'd like to see cheaper rates as well, but it won't happen. If I understand the deal with the city, to collect the special tax incentive, Disney had to build a hotel with a four-diamond rating. That means Disney must spend at least $225,000 per guest room, including $30,000 in furniture, fixtures and equipment in each room. So, you're not going to get a discount rate on something like that. My family have some special memories of the PPH and, yes, it has problems, but it's a nice hotel. I think it's only a 3 diamond rating.

I hear ya. Years ago my family would always stay at one of the Best Westerns across the street. I never could imagine paying for a DLH. We decided to splurge one year and stayed at PPH. That ruined it for us. Now, we always have to stay at PP or DLH. We haven't tried the GCH....yet. The rates are a killer and keep us from going as often as we'd like.

Is the HOJO quiet? I mean, the rooms? One thing I can't handle anymore (guess I'm getting old and grumpy) is the sound of people stomping around overhead. We've stayed at a few of the motels across from the park and they're all about the same as far as noise level. A couple years ago we stayed at the Annabella (across the street from PPH). We stayed on the upper floor so it was quiet.....for us. The guy staying below us called to complain about all the stomping we were doing. And, I thought we were being pretty quiet. I was actually sick on that trip and stayed in bed the last day of our DL visit. :(
Now a-days we like to stay at the PPH. I never hear any outside noise or the thunder of footsteps overhead.

We stayed in the ground floor building with huge arched ceilings. It was very quite and felt like old Tomorrowland.

    Hi Constance :)

I totally understand why most people wouldn't want to pay over $300 a night! I just got back from the Riviera Maya, and we paid around $300 per night for two for at a all inclusive. If I'm paying over $300 a night at a Disney hotel I expect unlimited churro's and Margarita's!

Even all the other hotels around DL have priced me out. Over the past few years we rent a car and usually stay in Placentia for a fraction of the price, and the hotel is much quieter and even offers free breakfast. I still love Disneyland, but when you start vacationing elsewhere you realize much better other vacation destinations can be.

I've stayed there at least three times that I can remember since 2012 and I do not remember hearing our neighbors. However, we stayed once on the freeway side of the tall tower (building 1?) and the freeway noise kept me awake. I've heard that they have replaced the windows, but I still won't stay there on that side. We stayed also in the double bed rooms in the two story buildings in the center of the complex. The rooms were very nice. I haven't stayed there lately as the room rates were too high for what we needed (just a place to sleep), but I agree the splash/slide area was great for my young kids and worth it if you are doing hotel time and not doing commando in the Parks.

If they include unlimited Carthay Manhattan's, it's worth every penny.

    "How was your vacation?"
"It was great, we had so much fun!"
    "Did your dad like it?"
"Yeah, he never left the hotel bar. We just came back everyday and all had to carry him up to the room."

Going back to the new hotel, I thought we all agreed this hotel was going in Simba to act as a berm for Star Wars land. It was going to be star wars themed.;)
    I disappointed.
