So long as it only applies to black Americans. A black man, Philando Castile, was shot and killed by a police officer in Minnesota, yesterday. He and his girlfried, with their daughter in the back seat, were pulled over for a broken tail light. The officer asked Castile for ID. He said he was going to get it out but that he had a gun because he had a license to carry a weapon. The officer told him not to move and Castile apparently made the mistake of raising his hands in the air, so the cop shot him half a dozen times. He died at the hospital. In 1967, California passed the Mulford Act, repealing open carry in the state. They did so in response to Black Panthers marching around the state capitol with weapons. The governor, Ronald Reagan, said he saw no reason why citizens should be carrying guns in the streets. So next time you hear from a "patriot" about how great guns are, ask them if they feel like Black Panthers are entitled to march around with guns out just as much as fat pasty white guys in camo and on motorcycles.
While I'm sure these cops are under enormous pressure, they sure seem ready to 'shoot to kill' in these situations.
Black men get killed by cops and what do we do? We get to hear about everything they've ever done before that's even remotely not angelic. A white dude rapes a girl and what do we get? His swim times. And we have data on this. They are much, much more likely to kill a black American than they are a white American. They shot Alton Sterling, they shot Philando Castile. Know what they did for Dylan Roof? Bought him Burger King.
