The FBI finds that while she was careless with emails, she was not doing things criminally. (Is that even a word?)

But that isn't enough apparently and Republicans are still going after her.

And the campaign between Trump and Clinton is just a bunch of finger-pointing and name-calling.

    Fun

In all my 68 years I don't recall such a group of childish people that we currently have leading our government. For the first time in my life I am ashamed to be an American. Even though I participated in the hated Vietnam war, I never felt this scared for what is happening. The government is run by a bunch of bullies that have adopted the worlds largest brainless bully that ever existed.

I'm to old to move away, but, I am not looking forward to the next four years no matter which one gets elected. I know that if that human mess that we currently call Republicans don't get voted out of the majority and Tangerine Man gets elected all I can do is fear for our security and know that it is impossible to ever have the world on our side again. If Hillary gets elected I don't think she will do half the harm that the Donald will do, but, because she is a woman and republicans hate the Clinton's because of a situation that I don't think they can even remember, will mean that nothing will get passed that will benefit anyone other then the rich. I have made the decision that I will not ever vote for a Republican again. I was always an independent and have voted for many Republicans in the past. Not any more. They have become the party of everyone for himself and the more money you have the more we care party. Right now the Grand Old Party is a joke. Except that it's a joke that isn't funny anymore.

They need to be voted out before they destroy this country. That seems to be the Republican platform. The problem is that with the current flock of seriously mentally ill people in congress, I doubt that they would leave if voted out. That's how much respect they have for the constitution and the government of the people.

You mean the ongoing State Department investigation? This?

State Department reopens probe into Hillary Clinton emails - CNNPolitics.com

The State Department is the Obama administration, not the Republicans.

"The State Department's announcement on Thursday was expected, as the department had suspended its probe while it was waiting for the Justice Department to complete its criminal investigation. But the State Department's announcement serves as a reminder that the email issue will continue to dog Clinton's campaign."

And I'm not real sure why she should be "out of the woods". Are you saying she did nothing wrong? Because frankly, that's crazy talk.

It's been obvious for some time now that what Clinton did was a). wrong; b). not criminal. And because Comey is a man of some integrity, that's exactly what that lifelong Republican said. And Congress just shot itself in the foot with a harpoon (again) going after the Great White Whale that is Hillary Clinton by forcing Comey to testify before Congress. Sure, they got some sound bites they can use in attack ads, but they already had that from his earlier statement. Along with that, they got a whole lot of sober explanation of why indicting her would actually have constituted "special treatment," whereas not indicting was what would have happened to anybody facing the same evidence.

People can and should use this as a black mark against Clinton in deciding who to vote for in November. And then put that up against Trump - who, if no one noticed is the one still facing criminal charges, for starters - and his plethora of black marks.

If Clinton was running against a squeaky clean Republican, this could hurt her. But she's running against Trump. People who already think she's Satan aren't going to change their minds, and those who don't will either a). dismiss it because they have a bias towards dismissing things done by those on Team D, or b). not dismiss is, but still vote for her, because... Trump.

By the way, this is a pretty good explanation for why Republican claims of "OMG! What she did!!!" were overblown to begin with. I'm not dismissing what she did, mind you (she simply shouldn't have done it in the first place), but a little perspective is always called for.

Hillary’s Email Scandal Showed Only That She’s Slippery. We Already Knew That.

"Examining the 30,000 emails that Clinton turned over, the FBI agents found 110—the back and forth of 52 email chains—that contained classified information. Of these, just eight had material that she should have known was “top secret”; 36 of them had “secret” information; and eight more had stuff that she should have known was “confidential.”"

    (snip)

"As anyone who’s ever had a security clearance will tell you, the labels secret and confidential mean next to nothing. When I worked on Capitol Hill in the late 1970s, the government gave me a secret clearance on my first day of work, pending the investigation into my worthiness to hold a top secret badge. As far as anyone knew, I might have been a Soviet spy, carting out confidential and secret documents every night and making copies for my handler. But they also knew the risk was low because there was nothing in those documents that the Soviets would have paid a dime for. The same is true of our various adversaries and stuff marked secret today.

Top secret information is another matter, but the stuff that showed up in Clinton’s private email wasn’t so special. Seven of the eight email chains dealt with CIA drone strikes, which are classified top secret/special access program—unlike Defense Department drone strikes, which are unclassified. The difference is that CIA drones hit targets in countries, like Pakistan and Yemen, where we are not officially at war; they are part of covert operations. (Defense Department drone strikes are in places where we are officially at war.) But these operations are covert mainly to provide cover for the Pakistani and Yemeni governments, so they don’t have to admit they’re cooperating with America. Everyone in the world knows about these strikes; nongovernment organizations, such as New America, tabulate them; newspapers around the world—including the New York Times, where some of the same reporters are now writing so breathlessly about Clinton’s careless handling of classified information—cover these strikes routinely.

The other top secret email chain described a conversation with the president of Malawi. Conversations with foreign leaders are inherently classified.

In other words, even if Russian, Chinese, Iranian, or Syrian spies had hacked into Clinton’s email servers, and if they’d pored through 60,000 emails and come across these eight chains that held top secret material, they would not have learned anything the slightest bit new or worthy of their efforts. The FBI’s discoveries should be viewed in that context."

The author then goes on to describe why Clinton's actions weren't criminal, which as I said was obvious for some time to any level-headed observer. But I thought the above was interesting, as I hadn't read before what was in the 8 "top secret" chains... apparently "top secret" only in the official sense, because we don't "officially" send drones into Pakistan and Yemen. But of course, the whole world knows we do.

My WAG: A sincere attempt at good governance.

Hillary's been cleared of criminal wrongdoing, but she and her staff still haven't faced the music at the State Department itself.

I tend to agree. I think the email thing is really no big deal, but the State Dept should investigate. They were, but got interrupted, so now they continue. If nothing else, they need to fix things. It wasn't just HRC having email issues, her predecessors were too.
