Tuacahn Center for the Arts Hunchback of Notre Dame is being performed at the St. George, Utah, Tuacahn outdoor amphitheater. They typically have productions on-par with national touring companies; it's not just community theatre. It's also a beautiful location, near Snow Canyon and the red cliffs of southern Utah. Probably a rare chance to see it so I'll going to try and take my family.
I'm glad that this show continues to be performed, even though it didn't go to Broadway. I saw the La Jolla and Papermill productions, and thought it was incredible. Both of those venues were on the small side for such a large piece of music, giving it an especially intimate feeling. I'm curious to see how it feels in an amphitheater, which would have the tendency to make everything feel a little smaller than usual There's also an in-the-round production in Sacramento in August. Given that the cathedral itself is sort of a character in the story, I'm curious to see how it fares with minimal sets and props The Hunchback of Notre Dame - California Musical Theatre
