This (rather long) article is a really good one. It's not entirely positive, but it does a great job of explaining why Hillary is such an effective politician. (And after you're done reading it, you can remind yourself "and then there's Trump.") Why the Clinton America sees isn’t the Clinton colleagues know
Great article - fascinating read. Clinton reminds me a lot of Obama and his team - in that both groups seem to have trouble effectively telling the public what they've done. Their 'wins' so to speak. As if informing us of the positive things they've done will make them appear weak or frivolous. As for the Iraq War and her vote to go forward with that? Eh. Add Hillary Clinton to a long list of really smart people who got sucked into that bunch of crap. Colin Powell comes to mind. Keep on Truckin' HC! Don't be afraid to show us who you are.
I read that article this morning and it was indeed interesting, and made a lot of sense to me. Here's another piece in her defense. Reprinted on Daily Kos but originally a Facebook post (!) The most thorough, profound and moving defense of Hillary Clinton I have ever seen. It also notes the difference between how people react to Clinton once she's actually in office, and how they react when she's campaigning ("asking for power" as the piece puts it). While the Vox piece posits that Clinton isn't good at traditional-style campaigning, which has been defined mostly by men, this piece posits there's some more garden-variety sexism going on as well. Not that simplistic (luckily), but lurking in the background. Also an interesting piece. And points out that Hillary DOES get pilloried (!) for things male politicians do that we tend not to think twice about when they do them.
Both these pieces (linked to by Dabob2 and mawnck) are superb. I think they get to the heart of the issue. I still think the Clintons act foolishly because they're in a bubble and have decided they'll be attacked no matter what they do. But I don't think it's as shady or malicious as it's so often made out to be. Aside: Obama is the greatest President of my lifetime and we were so freakin' lucky to have him and we'll probably never have another one like him for a long, long time.
