Just returned from a glorious 10 days in WDW (and 2 in Universal) with the whole family - son, daughter-in law, and grandson. So fun to see everything through his eyes! And so much fun to be with everyone every day. I really got spoiled with this every day stuff at my favorite place in the world. Stayed at the best place, too - The Beach Club. Love Storm-Along Bay, and so did the little guy. Got to get into Frozen before the crowds. We did so many character breakfasts. The little guy got to lead the parade with Mickey at The Poly - a priceless moment. This is a 22-month-old who hates to be separated from his mom - yet he let Mickey take his hand and went all around the dining room with him without mom. The Disney Junior Breakfast had the best food and the little guy loved the familiar characters. Sophia especially delighted him. This was the first time we have ever gone to Tike's Peak at Blizzard Beach and, again, a big hit. Disney has done a nice job of providing plenty of shade there and lots of fun and safe things to do. I did separate to take a run down Summit Plummet as at 67 I never know if I will be able to go down the next visit especialy as we only make it out every 3 years. We did the fireworks desserts too just to make life easy and our favorite was the Hollywood Studios one, which included characters. Boy does that show get hot, though. I'm glad our viewing section was not in the very front - that must get unbearable. The characters were all so wonderful. One day we ran across some Storm Troopers walking across the park to take positions somewhere and the little guy ran up and hugged one's leg, who then bent down to interact with him and let us take pictures (even though they weren't supposed to stop). I don't imagine they get too many leg hugs. We did several FastPasses for character meet-and-greets. All the characters knelt down when the little guy came up to let him hug them. The little guy really loved meeting them all (the face characters not so much). Loved the design of the new Jungle Cruise Restaurant and the food was fun and delicious. Where else can you get Lion Fish complete with spines (an invasive species so it is actually helpful to the environment to eat them in case anyone is concerned). Hope it succeeds. We were there quite late (8:55) and during fireworks so it was practically empty but as 8:55 was the earliest "day of" reservation and they close at 9 it should be okay. Everyone who works there seems to love it and were showing us their favorite "books" in the library and some of the artifacts from the Adventurers Club, which I miss. Be sure to check out all the rooms. Very fun to go on Kiliimanjaro Safaris at night as well as during the day. Seeing the animals was a highlight for the little guy. The family loved the Jungle Book nightime show. Gosh, and no lines at the Dole Whip place. When I remarked on that, the girl said, well it rained (a few drops - not even enough for us to take cover) and it's not so hot (still in the 90's but maybe less that 90% humidity). Wow, I guess you can get used to anything. I know these are just random thoughts, but I am in serious withdrawal so just wanted to share some of the highlights and I'm sure I've left many out. Plus just about everything one does at WDW is a highlight when you can only go every 3 years or so, and we did plenty. Can't wait to see all the pictures.
I just loved being able to share the Magic with my children and now my grandchildren. Such wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing.
Oops - I see I posted in DL Trip Reports rsther than WDW. Sorry. So glad I live in CA and can g to DL in just a 6 hour drive or I'd be really sad! Can hardly wait till the little guy can go on Radiator Springs. Cars is his favorite movie and I know he'll LOVE the ride! It's so nice we have things here they don't in WDW.
We made a special trip to Disneyland to get my grandson Jason on RSR. He got to ride it four times in one day! What a special time it was. He has been all about Cars his whole life and I could not wait until he was tall enough. He's the one in the middle; between Dad and Sissy though you can barely see him. Rod and I had to take the backseat. He knew what souvenirs he wanted As did Baby Brother.
What fun you must have had. Great pictures! We'll have to do that, too - make a special trip when he is finally tall enough. It seems so far away but I know I will just blink and he will be that old!
I just reread this and thank you so much for sharing. The fun and excitement come through and I get to live vicariously through you. First character meal for 31mo-old planned in June, so I'm hoping to have as good memories and pictures as you.
