I'm actually kind of surprised by all the teeth gnashing and mouth foaming of the new overlay. I thought the ride was cool - but I'm of the Twilight Zone generation and so it resonated with me. I think 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is a great movie and so am looking forward to the change.
I was not excited about the change, but then I read a piece about it (linked earlier in this thread?? I'm too lazy to look), and they made it sound better than I expected. When is it expected to open?
I think a big part of the reason that the existing ride is so neat is that it's fun even if you don't really know anything about the Twilight Zone. Sure, it probably helps if you understand the TZ concept, but the backstory is simple and clear enough that knowing the connection is entirely unnecessary (Indiana Jones in DL has the same appeal). My fear is that the Guardians overlay will be so heavy-handed that it will only make sense to people who have seen the movie(s?). Given that Disney parks are increasingly becoming places where you "ride the movies" (to steal Universal's old tagline), it is kind of nice to have a ride that's only tangentially linked to an existing IP. If guests have to know all the movies to make any sense of the attractions, I think the parks will loose a lot of their appeal; most of the recent "book report" style rides are pretty terrible if you don't already know the story (DCA's Monsters Inc ride may be the worst for this)
In the new after dark version of the ride, would it be noticeable if I were to take off my clothes to the other riders? Not trying to be a sex offender, I just was wondering what the elevator shaft would feel like to my naked body.
Darkness was not that total and the doors still opened at the top. I am afraid you would be in serious trouble
Perhaps if I offered disney 1 million dollars they would be willing to let me do it. www.gofundme.com/nudetowerofterror
I think I will take off my top when I ride the Tower for the final time, since I have absolutely no respect for them anymore. They removed the sign ALREADY?! My God, can't they even wait a few more months?! Are they so f---ing impatient?! Maybe a lot of people coming to pay homage to the ride one final time would like to take photos of the Tower- with the sign- before it goes away. I really wish the people in charge would read up on social media. Seems to me the vast majority love the Tower and they want it to stay the way it is. Instead, they're taking a huge chance on wasting a lot of money for some stupid franchise. Not to mention heavily promoting the closing of the Tower in order to get more people into DCA. So those are their sick little ideas? Epic fail and thumbs way, way down.
