Set to be produced by Disney Television Animation (DTVA), the new series will again star Disney’s enduringly popular characters: Scrooge McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Donald Duck. The announcement was made today by Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming, and General Manager, Disney XD. Buhaj said, “DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.” The new series’ adventures will once again take viewers along as Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews—Huey, Dewey, and Louie—and the optimistic-yet-temperamental Donald Duck embark on high-flying adventures worldwide. Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack. A generation’s seminal cartoon, the Emmy Award-winning DuckTales led the daily syndicated cartoon block “The Disney Afternoon” with 100 episodes produced by DTVA from 1987–‘90. An animated theatrical film, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, premiered in 1990. The original DuckTales is currently available on WATCH Disney Channel, an app that allows consumers to watch on tablet, phones, computer, and set top boxes. Disney Interactive features several DuckTales-themed items in the Disney Infinity toy box. A music video of the familiar DuckTales theme song (with real ducks) has amassed more than six million views since September 2014 on the popular YouTube channel “Oh My Disney.”<<< http://d23.com/woo-hoo-new-duc...xd-2017/ I loved DuckTales as a kid and sometimes I still watch it on the Disney Channel. I also love the Carl Barks Comics. So that is great news. I think the new series will be computer animated, so I'm not sure if I will like that. I guess I just have to wait and see.

If they used more traditional designs, I'm sure it could work just fine

I'm wondering if they will use Carl Barks comics again, or maybe the even better Don Rosa comics. Is Don rosa known in the US, since the Duck comics aren't as popular in the US as they are in Europe. I would like to see an animated The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck series.

I'm a big fan of Carl Barks and Don Rosa and got all of their comics.
From d23.com I'm not sure what to think about the animation style, but I like the new Mickey Mouse shorts, so maybe this will look good too.
I like the design, but of course it could be very different when they're actually moving. The new Mickey shorts have a given him some of his personality back, so I'm excited to see what they can come up with for this gang
They've released a video of the cast singing the theme song: I'm surprised by how well-known most of the cast is. They're not top-name actors (except David Tennant, maybe), but there are a ton of recognizable faces in there
Although it is just a cartoon series, I'm excited about DuckTales. As a kid I loved the original series, and now I love the Carl Barks comics the series is based on. I hope they stay true to Carl Barks and maybe Donald Duck gets a bigger role. As for the voice actors, I only know David Tennant thanks to Jessica Jones and Doctor Who.
Dang it!! Now I have the theme song stuck in my head! I have to admit I'm looking forward to checking it out as well because I enjoyed it as a kid.
Trailer for DuckTales. I still have to get used to the animation style, but I like the nods to Carl Barks, especially the big picture of Scrooge on the wall over the fire place. I have that one as a reprint. For me it looks like they took the Barks story Christmas on Bear Mountain and the last chapter of Don Rosa's The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck to create the story of the pilot. And today DuckTales got renewed for a second season.
Looks like a fun series. Toward the end the family stuff seems a little heavy-handed (like a lot of Disney shows these days), but I'm glad that they're trying to keep it somewhat grounded, since the adventures look like they could get a little crazy otherwise
