Uh, yeah. This is such a ridiculous mess. And so far, nobody has done what they should do. (And have done lots of things they shouldn't.)
I hope you are correct. But we are talking about a very fickle 1 or 2% That's more than enough to sway a close election. It depends on the direction of the breeze on any given day. And it is NOT in Clinton's favor right now.
But if the polls are correct (and they've been close all year with the single exception of MI on the Democratic side), then that fickle 1or 2 percent wouldn't be enough. That's my point. Absent something concrete and damaging, she has enough of a lead to survive. If it turns out to be only tangentially related to her, or even more of a nothing burger, it's even possible that that will rally ticked off Democrats and turn off independents tired of Trump crying wolf once too often.
Except this time it's not Trump doing the crying (might be his surrogate, that remains to be seen I suppose). The big worry on left-wing sites (and I tend to agree) is that Hillary is bulletproof at this point, but the newest line of crap about her emails might seriously affect downballot races (which may mean a Republican Senate after all, which means chaos for the Supreme Court).
"Except this time it's not Trump doing the crying (might be his surrogate, that remains to be seen I suppose)." He is the one doing the crying wolf in the way I meant it - For instance saying that these emails that no one had even seen at that point proved that this was "worse than Watergate." When it turns out that it wasn't, that constitutes crying wolf. I'm also concerned about the downballot races though. I hope they go through these emails quickly, and determine that most are duplicates they've seen before and the others are insignificant.
>>For instance saying that these emails that no one had even seen at that point proved that this was "worse than Watergate."<< This has been his m.o. since day one. Say something crazy, over the top, unfounded. Rational people dismiss it for the bluster and nonsense it is, but his supporters eat it up with a spoon. His supporters see his flam flam snake oil bluster as "real talk," telling it like it is. Of course, it's all a con job, has been all along. But for low information folks, they're not listening to pesky facts and evidence. Accuses Ted Cruz's dad of conspiring on JFK. Cruz ultimately endorses him. This is the mindset we're dealing with.
I love the notion that Hillary Clinton is in her secret underground lair - orchestrating the installation of these servers, potentially with a couple of D.C. interns. If she's like any other person of her age, she has about as much knowledge of email servers as she does of how a car works beyond pressing the pedal and the car moves.
