State Democratic elector Robert Satiacum won’t vote for Clinton

In Washington state, there is a $1,000 fine for electors who do not honor the election results.

Satiacum said that fine doesn’t bother him and that he could not face his six children and 10 grandchildren if he cast a vote for Clinton. He was also critical of Republican Donald Trump and said he doesn’t know what he’ll do with his vote. ...

... he said he’s heard from a few other national Democratic electors who are considering joining him.

Okay, I have a brain that goes at high speed. I am already picturing this happening in all the states. Maybe they will finally see just how crazy this whole Electoral College is. There are a number of states that do not require following the popular vote. (I remember praying that someone in Florida would be brave enough in 2000.) What will happen if all the Electors decide to vote their consciences or whatever?:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Okay, I just read the whole article and it says there are only two. I thought there were more. My concern still stands though. If they can afford the fine will that decide the outcome?

It certainly could, depending on how the other votes go, and I'd think there would be some question as to whether the fine would even be constitutional. I need to do some more research on this ...

EDIT: Here's a WaPo article on the topic - and it says an elector in Georgia is considering not voting for Trump, should it come up (which it probably will).

How a ‘faithless elector’ in Georgia could cost Donald Trump an electoral college vote
