Read it and cringe... Kurt Eichenwald's Tweets Listing His Findings From His Newsweek Trump Investigation ... and then realize that this is all just the findings of ONE reporter. One very dogged, excellent reporter to be sure (he along with David Fahrenthold of the Washington Post have broken a ton of important stories between them), but still... ONE reporter. And then be a little depressed that there was ALL this, and it still took an Access Hollywood sex story to do the most damage. Nearly any of these stories would have ended pretty much anyone else's campaign. Paradoxically, the sheer volume of wrongdoing helped each subsequent story overshadow the previous ones, and actually probably helped him. Plus, Americans have the attention spans of dust mites.
Yes, and addresses my biggest fear. He could never fulfill his obligation as President and would leave us with Pence.
That list is proof that far too many people choose to believe or not to believe in FACTS - something that is positively horrifying. And I am always amazed by people saying they support Trump because he is a successful businessman and therefore understands business. Such blindness is going to be the doom of our country one day.
I actually got into it with an old friend (one with whom I have nearly always agreed) about a current issue. When I started giving him facts he actually said, "Do not infiltrate my protective bubble." He still posts about this issue refusing to look at the other side as it would mean admitting he did some things wrong. I was flabbergasted. But if someone so smart, whom I have admired, can be so blinded; what hope is there for *Joe Average?* Just don't confuse me with the facts.
It is no coincidence that only 22% of Trump supporters think climate change is due to human activity. They don't want it to be true therefore they don't believe in it. Easy peasy. The problem is Trump will eventually go away, but this phenomenon of willful (even arrogant!) ignorance won't.
