Prolific director Mark Waters has been tapped to helm the upcoming live-action family comedy from Disney, MAGIC CAMP. It’s being produced by Suzanne Todd, with Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue working on the most recent draft of the script. Comedy actor Steve Martin remains in talks to star in the film. The film follows a rigid and cautious banker who returns to the summer camp he attended as a boy: a camp for magic. His return to the camp is as a fun counselor to help out the young group of rag-tag magicians, but privately he also has an eye on winning the Golden Wand competition. Gillian Jacobs is set to star opposite Adam DeVine and Jeffrey Tambor in Disney’s family comedy “Magic Camp.” “Mean Girls” helmer Mark Waters is attached to direct. The story follows DeVine’s character, who is pulled out of retirement by his former mentor, and returns as a counselor to the magic camp of his youth, hoping to reignite his career. Instead, he finds inspiration in his ragtag group of rookie magicians. Tambor will play Roy Preston, the mentor and owner of the magic camp.
