I know that I don't visit here often enough and truly hate to be the bearer of bad news but his niece posted this afternoon on Facebook: "And today my Uncle Jerry joins my Papa Bear, Aunt Chris, and Grama Mary. Finally free of pain and illness. I will miss him greatly. He was fierce in his love, kind and generous. He loved Disney like any kid with joy and wonder in his heart! He always found time to talk and see me. He helped me when I fell on rough time without even thinking twice about it. He was one of a kind and now he is gone." We know he had been struggling for some time and had taken a turn for the worse and had been in the hospital. Traveling mercies Roadtrip. You will be missed.
This news, while not unexpected is very sad for us all. I got to meet Jerry and Annie in Disneyland right after they got engaged. I knew they were made for each other. Our heartfelt condolences to her and the rest of their family. If there is one thing that is most poignant right now it is this post that he wrote to me after a trip to Disneyland with my grandchildren. "Always treasure those times. You never know when they may be the last ones you ever have with those people. In May of 2009 our daughter was married in Orlando. Her wedding was at the beautiful Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando. The reception was at our favorite WDW restaurant, Ohana. My wife was recovering from colon cancer, but felt great at the time. Unknown to us the cancer had spread, but was causing no symptoms at the time. She felt wonderful and we had the most special week of our lives at WDW. Less than five months later, September of 2009, my wife of 30 years lost her life to colon cancer. I would have never guessed that the trip to WDW for our daughter's wedding would be our last." Please take his words to heart and treasure every moment you have.
Such terrible and sad news! My condolences go out to his family. I've joined LP very late and so I don't know any of you long time members very well nor have I met anyone in person. However I got some of you to know here on LP and encountered RoadTrip as a wonderful contributor to the forums. He will be missed here.
So sorry to hear about Jerry. He was a lot of fun when he posted here. He truly will be missed. My condolences to his family.
CC sent me a note the other day that he was nearing the end and then again when he passed. Condolences to his friends and family, and thanks to the OP for letting the community know.
RoadTrip will be greatly missed. He was such a wonderful contributor to this site, and it sounds like he was a genuinely great person. My condolences to the family.
Rest in peace RoadTrip, I may not have been blessed to know you personally, but you have made a great impact nonetheless. My condolences to those he left behind.
This is such sad news, and he will be greatly missed! I loved his honesty, sense of humor and how he would never back down from a disagreement I am glad after his wife's passing he was able to find love again and was able to enjoy life. I will miss his WDW trip and Disney Cruise reports My Condolences to his Family and everyone who cared for RT.
Wow, quite a shocker. Didn't he just go to WDW a little while ago? Sorry, to hear this he was a great contributor to this board. RIP, RT
