Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars standalone film. While it seems like the actor is Disney’s choice, the site does say a deal is still being negotiated. The 26-year-old’s performance in the recent Cohen Brothers’ film Hail, Caesar! was well received.

I have no complaints about the choice, but I still think this movie will have a hard time. For many Harrison Ford IS Han Solo or Indiana Jones, they don't want to see anybody else in the role. So I think it's very brave of Lucasfilm to move forward with such a movie.

Han Solo is getting a gambling buddy — his standalone “Star Wars” spinoff film is casting a young Lando Calrissian.

Fans have speculated about which of the characters from Solo’s complicated past might turn up in “Han Solo,” and now we know at least one. The Cloud City cassanova was originally played by Billy Dee Williams, and the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is “Chance” — perhaps a reference to the character’s appreciation of cards and dice.

Following the massively successful release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens last December, no one was surprised when Disney and Lucasfilm pushed Star Wars Episode VIII from May 2017 to December 2017. However, since then, the untitled Han Solo movie has been slotted in for May 2018, a sign perhaps that the franchise will indeed ultimately return to its well-known May slot every year moving forward.

Or not. According to Making Star Wars, "our sources in the theater industry have received a release date of December 13th, 2018 for Star Wars: Han Solo. We are not saying the release date has changed but it could signify that a release date shift for Star Wars: Han Solo is in the works."

It Sounds Like Disney And Lucasfilm Are Planning To Delay The HAN SOLO's STAR WARS Spinoff

This was the one I am most hesitant on but each casting news gets me a little more excited.

Another great actor being added to the movie! I'm still not entirely sure about the movie, but the actor line up is amazing!
