Apparently Season of the Force is coming to DLP.

I guess that means our DLP trip in 2017 has to happen in March instead of Autumn.

Interesting that the event will be in WDSP, but I guess it makes sense if Star Tours will be closed for refurbishment the entire time

It's tough to tell what the "mini shows" will be, but hopefully it will be better than the WDW stage show that's been mockingly called a "fashion show". In that, there are video clips from the movies, followed by the characters coming on stage and posing a little, but no real plot, pacing, or development of any kind

I'm also surprised that the projection show appears to not include fireworks (or at least, not in any large-scale way); I thought that part of the reason to use that park was because they had more flexibility for pyro shows. I'm also concerned about the inclusion of characters in the show, since that will presumably limit the viewing area to a specific part of the park. And given that Kathleen Kennedy has decreed that SW characters won't dance or anything, so I'll be curious to see how they'll be incorporated into it

That said, I'm relieved that the concept art at the beginning of the article was only for the show! After the GOTG change coming to DCA, I really thought they were doing an overlay to the ride for a moment

I really enjoyed Season of the Force at DL this year. The only thing here that gets me excited though is the night time show. I might have to think about this...

I don't know if SotF was still going on when we visited, but don't think so, because it didn't leave a mark on our trip. The Space Mountain overlay wasn't that good, but I guess that was also due to the not so exciting coaster. I can imagine such an overlay would be much better with DLP's fast and thrilling SM.

We definitely will visit DLP next year, but although it would be cool to see the SotF show at ToT, we might wait until the 25th anniversary starts and the new Star Tours is open.

    Why not do both?!

I really enjoyed the SM overlay and thought it made the ride much more thrilling than I expected.

I had the fortune of being able to tour the exhibit space and meet Chewbacca with a couple of LPers so that probably made the experience more memorable for me.

I'll probably skip it, but I would really like to see the show.

I would love to go to DLP twice in a year, but I have only five weeks of vacation and it's a money thing too. Next year we have also planned a trip to Ohio and Canada to visit some friends.

I just remembered I'm in northern France for a week next February to do some more WW1 stuff. I think a DLP day trip might just be doable.

Are you working in the field of history?

No, my brother is the history buff. He's a bit of a WW1 expert and puts together tours for people as a sideline to his day job. We go over for trips a couple of times a year to try things out. I was lucky enough to be at Thiepval in July for the Battle of the Somme commemorations and was at Mons for the 100th anniversary of the start of the war. I've had some amazing experiences through it all including camping in a military cemetery (with permission). The theme park buff in me tries to get a trip to Bellewaerde in as often as possible. If you're ever in Belgium it's worth checking out.

These history tours sound very interesting.

Yeah, it's really humbling to see the graves and memorials and hear the amazing stories of bravery.

If you're ever in the area let me know and I'll get some tips and information for you.

Finally DLP doesn't have to use the DLA poster anymore

Notice the new trains for Space Mountain in the poster? Hopefully we will once again have a smooth ride once it reopens.

Idono, those look pretty similar to the existing trains to me. If they were going to install new trains as part of the Hyperspace overlay, why not make them look like something that could exist in the Star Wars world? It's pretty clear that they've been moving away from the steampunk look for a while, so it wouldn't be so crazy for them to change the style of the trains

New trains for 2017 were officially announced back in 2015 by Disneyland Paris. Here's the link:

Space Mountain: space flights pick up again after six-month refurbishing

I'm guessing they are similar in style to the existing ones to work well with exterior theme of the mountain, and who knows, maybe in a year or two Star Wars may go and a more conventional (1995 version preferably) theme will return.

I'm also not convinced that Star Wars is going to stay. At least I hope so. I don't like the overlay, but I still think that it is a nice surprise for the 25th Anniversary. They can offer a new experience and hopefully it is any good. Anaheim's Hyperspace Mountain was not that great. I'm curious how the projections will turn out in the much faster rollercoatster.

Why can't DCA have this projection show on the Tower of Terror? The tarps would make a perfect screen. They could show Disney movies at night!
