Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are in negotiations to star in A Wrinkle in Time, Ava DuVernay and Disney’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic children’s book. The Newbery Medal-winning book centers on a young girl who finds herself on an interplanetary journey with a schoolmate and her younger brother to locate her missing father, a scientist. They are aided on their quest by a trio of supernatural beings, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which. Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling in Talks to Join Ava DuVernay's 'A Wrinkle in Time' (Exclusive)
I remember reading this book in grade school. Creepy and kind of disturbing. I remember the disembodied brain called 'IT'
WWoD adapted this during it's last year I believe. I have the DVD somewhere, but I mostly use it as a coaster.
I remember this book from grade school also. It was one of the "big three" (the others being Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang); the only 3 the library had multiple copies of, other than some Dr. Suess for the "little kids," and the three that everyone I knew had read - not because they were ever assigned (they weren't), but - you know - for pleasure. Post-Harry Potter, do kids still read for pleasure?

You have to let us know how that goes. When I first read it as a child I found it rather unsettling. I wonder if it would still feel that way.
My dad got me into fantasy/sci fi at a pretty early age. I was reading Xanth books by Piers Anthony when I was in 4th grade, so A Wrinkle in Time wasn't even a blip on my radar as being unsettling. I'll let you know how the re-read goes though because it probably won't be the way I remember it.

A Stitch in Time? What's that?! I really hope that the name was just an error on the part of Daily Mail. The book is pretty well known, and this title would certainly not get any of the recognition from a wide audience. Wasn't one of the direct-to-video Cinderella sequels subtitles something like A Stitch in Time? It would be a shame if that's what people thought this was
Has this book ever been made into a movie before? It was such a big book when I was a kid, it seems like it would have been, but I don't remember any previous version.
There was a Canadian TV movie in 2004 that aired on ABC in the US. I think it might even have been shown under the Wonderful World of Disney banner. As far as I can tell, that was the first filmed version of the story, surprisingly.
It's been years since I read the book, but I always imagined the 3 women to be much older, like stereotypical silver-haired old ladies. It will be interesting to see them so much younger. Then again, maybe they were always written to be younger and I just pictured it wrong as a child...
