If they were going to keep it open, obviously they'd have to include him.

Any word on if he'll speak? That was a fairly recent addition, to have the current president speak; Clinton was the first, I think. So they could change that back if they wanted.

Moot for me; I was just there last year, and he probably won't still be President by the time I make it back.

I just watched this show 3 days ago and in the waiting hall(the area where guests gather with the few portraits, first lady gowns, USA seal and other artifacts) I heard a word the host cast member said using his microphone to the gathered crowd which I could not believe: "crap"

He was talking about his personal favorite president being Abe Lincoln and he slipped in the word "crap" unapologetically and casually as if it were nothing. I was just shocked, not that I was offended in the slightest, but that I never thought a microphoned CM would use that quasi profane word.

I haven't heard anything, but if they don't let him speak it could easily be twisted into a "Disney wants to make a political statement" type thing, which I'm sure they would rather avoid. To avoid that sort of press, early in the 2008 election cycle they announced that the sitting President (whoever it would be) would no longer have a speaking role, as part of the bigger overhaul to the production; after Obama was elected, Disney visibly breathed a sigh of relief and quietly added the speaking part back in. Given that they didn't make such an announcement this time, it would be really hard for them to get away with him not speaking

During one of the last few days of GlowFest in DCA in 2010, the DJ played a song that very clearly included a line to "hit that s**t"; not only did it have a one of the words you can't say on television, but it was also a drug reference. Considering how loudly it was blasting in the Sunshine Plaza, there's no way that anybody did hear it. After that, there's little a CM says that surprises me

I would bet relatively few non-Disney geeks (like us) would know the history of the attraction well enough to even miss the current president speaking. Sure some people would notice and some would probably complain. But they'd have to weigh that against the complaints they'd get if he did speak.

His approval is currently 40% and inauguration day is usually the high water mark. By June they may decide "let's just keep it to Lincoln ," Or not. It'll be interesting to see.

I would rather hear Morgon Freeman talk than a blowhard. Freeman narrates the show beautifully.
Morgon's death will truly sadden me. We need more morgon and Denzel voices and less Kanye.

Thankfully, Morgan Freeman is still with us, and any rumors of his demise are (to coin a phrase) greatly exaggerated.
Maya Angelou, on the other hand, left us in 2014.

Jeez. I was in a meeting the other day with a group of 20-25 year olds and mentioned what a thrill it was for me to have met Jack Lemmon.

    Black stares all around.

They had no clue even who he was. Wow.

I blame parents and even grandparents. I made sure my children were well versed in the classics. We pass that on to the grandchildren as well. And not just back to my youth but my parents' and grandparents' as well.
Too many had no clue that Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds were related. Sheeeesh!

Kids should watch more movies on TCM and learn the history on them.

He was also in a doo-wop group that sang backup for Rita Moreno. When you tell the uninitiated about this show, they wonder what you've been smoking. :)
