I would rather be wrong. DH and I have been discussing, is this going to be the worst or things and then we inch ourselves back from the ledge, or is this just what they could get done quickly and the worst is still to come. I believe it's the latter, this is just what they could get done quickly. And with Customs & Border Patrol ignoring the injunctions at Dulles, my second fear that the judicial system would not be in a position to override things. I was reminded that President Andrew Jackson just completely ignored the Supreme Court decisions. So we're in for a two headed monster with blue states refusing to follow Executive Orders, and red states refusing to follow court rulings. That's the kind of time when the National Guard gets sent in "to restore order..." We're supposed to be going to London on March 8. While I don't expect the UK to start banning Americans or anything like that, I am more worried that the situation is going to escalate that the process of traveling abroad at all, will become frustrating and cumbersome for everyone. And who knows, at this point I am not going to rule out that some country would have already started shooting at one of their enemies. It's one day at a time, so I'm scared for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and what comes out then.
That would be fine with the White House. Their supporters, almost to a man, couldn't care less. Assuming they even fly at all, they *never* leave the country. As for myself, I'm resigned to the fact that this jackass may force MY unwilling relocation back to America. I can't really imagine he'd go so far as to alienate Japan, but if/when he does, my permanent residence here will be treated with only slightly better regard than how America is treating them right now (and the Japanese would be well within their rights to do so!). Safe travels Hopemax! Hope you have a great, UNEVENTFUL trip.
I so hope you make it to London and are able to leave all of this behind; if only for a short time. We were already planning to sell our house and move on to something else. But we were thinking retiring into a motor home and seeing our country. Now we want to sell as soon as possible (providing anyone is considering buying) to possibly leave the country. At the very least we will hang out here in Seattle where escape will be closer.
