Spielberg and Ford Reunite as Indiana Jones Returns to Theaters July 19, 2019 https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/sp...diana-jones-returns-to-theaters-july-19-2019/
The movie got delayed to 2020. Star Wars: Episode IX and Next Indiana Jones Get Release Dates | StarWars.com
It wouldn't surprise me too much if this film ends up never getting made (at least in the form that was announced). Harrison Ford will be 78 at the time of the new release date and Spielberg is constantly shifting his attention from projects that have previously been announced and end up either never getting made (like "Robopocalypse" and the remake of "Harvey") or get made by someone else (lincluding "Big", "Rain Man", and even the first Harry Potter).
Yah, but Shia Labeouf will only be 34 This project has always felt like one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" things. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it actually did happen, but it just doesn't seem like a high priority from anybody involved
Yeah, I think that sums it up. I won't be shocked if it does go into production and gets made, but it just seems questionable. I do think Disney will eventually do something with Indiana Jones as it is probably too valuable a property for them to just let it sit. If Ford or Spielberg drop out (I doubt either would do a film without the other), then I suspect they will end up re-casting sooner rather than later. Just as a wild thought, considering Ford's age, I wonder if they should consider doing the film via motion-capture, similar to Spielberg's "Adventures of Tintin". Frankly, I thought Tintin felt more like an Indiana Jones film than Crystal Skull did.
If they wait long enough, they may not have to pretend to kill him off at the end like they did in Star Wars.
With the exception of 'Crystal Skull' I really like the Indiana Jones movies and would love to see Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg redeem themselves for a number 5.
