Universal's "Sci Fi Cities" in one or two parks outside the U.S. are a bit of a joke. Execution, artistic direction .. crap. France's Futuro park doesn't quite get close to Disney's level of execution (Past, that is) and the Bremem Space Center in Germany is not a full land or park, per se. But one big building. Who else has tried since Walt introduced a 'future' land 60 years ago? too few! Way too few! This is why I rant as much as I do about Disney not throwing in the towel, and give up on the "Tomorrowland" concept. It's a crying shame ... 60 years have gone by ... there are other theme park businesses on the planet other than Disney. And no one else, NO ONE, has managed to do it. If the Walt Disney Co. refuses to give up on the concept, then that's just a sad state of life on Earth. If we are so entirely stuck in the past, present, and can barely look 1 year into the future. I hope the park is a go in Spain ... and have high hopes for the park chain to grow.

Still funny, but nothing I need in a themepark. >>>I hope the park is a go in Spain ... and have high hopes for the park chain to grow. <<< The only interesting thing about that park is Star Trek and I wouldn't go there just for ST. I don't see a big future for that park.

Even in southern California, Grizzly River Run has a tough time attracting riders during their 'winter' months. Hopefully they will have a way to keep folks mostly dry during the colder months, or it will be a lot of wasted potential

The lead developer has also left the project. The London market has never had a park that could achieve the attendance levels promised by this one. That includes such established Merlin parks as Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures. I'd certainly not put a penny behind it.

Originally Posted By leemac <<By the way, what happened to the one in Spain? Is that project dead?>> Nope - its limping along. One of the companies involved recently got dumped into bankruptcy but they are claiming it won't affect the park. It is less likely than the London park - and the chances of that (in its current guise) are very small indeed.

I just read in the news that the Paramount Park London is not happening. The deal collapsed. So after Spain the next Paramount Park is not coming. I guess that's good news for Disney.
The news I heard is that the park is still going ahead, but without Paramount being a part of it. I think it's just a matter of time now though...
