We be at the resort mid June. Would be nice to know if a specific date has been set for the railroad to reopen.

There has been no official date for the railroad to reopen. From the current construction It looks closer to July than June.... but I could be wrong on that one.

Oh! I hope it is up when we go in July; I really missed it in April. Not just riding it but the sounds you always hear as well. Plus, all those folks that would be on the train are out on the streets.

I appreciate your note. The official word is "Summer" but I had heard that they removed the Locomotives off static display several weeks ago so I was kinda hoping things might be ahead of schedule. Agreed....the sounds are just as nostalgic as the sights.

    Disneyland: Railroad, 'Fantasmic!' Return Dates

I hope you can link to this website. I just heard the good news.

Right now I'm listening to "At Last" by Etta James. Very fitting, don't you think?

See you in August, where I'll have a 90's nostalgia fit with Fantasmic and the Electrical Parade.

Tom Sawyer Island (okay, Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island) should be open today, June 16.
The Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia, and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes will follow on July 29.
The trains may also be back on July 29.

And yet on the Dland website it says all will be back after July 29 except the Mark Twain. WTF.

It looks like they will make the July 29 deadline. Watching all their tests of the train going around the track makes me hope that they will have soft openings before that date.

So much for the "Disney Experts" that said the train couldn't turn left.

Was there ever anybody who seriously believed that? The trains made a left turn coming out of the roundhouse backstage every day (and then did the same movement in reverse at the end of the night). The only reason that they kept turning right is because that's the way the tracks went

I wonder how much more often the inside wheels of the locomotives and carriages had to be replaced. Constantly going in a circle like that would surely wear down one wheel much faster than the other

I don't know if anyone actually believed it but they sure made a huge stink about it as part of the "Star Wars is ruining Disneyland"-type threads in other forums.

I starting to wonder if anything is taught in schools anymore. Common Sense certainly isn't. Logical thinking certainly isn't. And look at the mess that has gotten us into. There is apparently no end to stupid.

I saw plenty of hullaballoo (and participated in some myself) about the railroad getting rerouted for the Star Wars project, with a variety of reasons given, from the appropriateness of such a land to the huge impact to the existing park infrastructure. I don't recall anybody claiming that the trains couldn't turn that way. There were plenty of complaints with varying degrees of validity, but somehow I completely missed that one

If they had just put Star Wars in the Simba Lot like they originally planned, none of this would be an issue!
