I find it somewhat curious that they decided to wait until now to announce that it will open in "late 2017", considering it was originally scheduled to open this week. Presumably they've known about the delay for quite some time at this point; perhaps they've finally figured out the logistics of getting the recording done As I said in the other thread (before it got shut down), Disney backed themselves into a corner on this one by not announcing a non-speaking role prior to the election. Their only real out would have been if Trump had declined to participate, which doesn't appear to be the case. Thus, they've forced themselves to continue the current tradition of having the sitting president speak. I don't think it's a truly necessary part of the show, but the change should be planned, not a knee-jerk reaction to a certain election outcome
“We’re hopeful that, at least by the first anniversary of his election, he’ll be there with the 44 other presidents that preceded him,” Iger said. This better be a big rewrite of the show for the referb to be almost a year long. It shouldn't take that long to sculpt one head and plug in one additional AA no matter who got elected.
Oh well. I guess now the attraction becomes one big game of "One of these things is not like the others."
Well, now they get to spend time programming the robot - er, animatronic - and, uh, getting it to look lifelike ................... Sorry mods ... I'm trying to keep a straight face here, really I am ...
I was just in WDW back in September. And while my Spring vacations always take me to San Francisco and Sacramento, it is extremely rare that I visit the same place twice in less than 4 or 5 years on my fall vacations. Too many places I'd like to return to on fall vacations (I'd really like to spend more than half a day in the Strasburg/Lancaster area of Pennsylvania), and too many places I've never been to (this year's fall vacation will be Western Canada by rail). So what an animatronic Trump has to say is at best of only academic interest to me.
I'm going to miss going to the HoP. Always like it, but, on principle I will not ever set foot in the place as long as it is a speaking part. I don't even want to see him, but, I certainly don't want to hear him. I don't think of him as someone that cares about this country and is just another slam on all the people have died for to defend us over the years. When we are back to having a respectable, morally solid person, in the position, I will return to see the show. To me it is just an easy way to get rid of that attraction and change into a Marvel Meet and Greet! All it took was a few buckets of water splashed into the subs to get rid of 20K permanently.
