I wonder if there are any real Disney legends that actually worked under Walt that have not been honored yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong ... but this "Disney legend" never worked for Disney one single day in his entire life, is that correct? No connection whatsoever, other than the corporation bought his stuff.

    Here's a bonkers idea ... How about naming him a MARVEL legend. I know, I'm a crazy person ...

I have to admit I felt pretty much the same when I heard about this. There must be some animators that haven't been honored yet. I'd even be up for one that honored a whole department from back in the day if individual awards aren't deemed feasible.

Kirby actually did the comic strip tie-in for The Black Hole, so he did work for Disney once, but obviously, that isn't why he is being honored as a "Disney Legend".

I really do get the sentiment, but I think the fan community really needs to come to terms with the fact that Disney considers the recent acquisitions (Marvel, Lucasfilm, even ABC) to be fully Disney properties now and their history to now be part of the company's legacy.

But I think in that case it's still too soon to count him as a Disney legend as Marvel is a relatively recent acquisition. If anything I'd be less bothered by someone connected to the recent movies if we really want to honor Marvel.

Regardless of fan feelings, a person who barely worked for Disney being deemed a "Disney Legend" seems odd.
