A Slinky Dog family coaster and an Alien themed Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. What ticked me off the most was comparing it to Carsland on immersion. Comparing a land that is made up, to a land that is an actual location in the film, is dumb. I understand the park needs family rides, but all this Toy Story kind of annoys. Your thoughts?
Originally Posted By FerretAfros Yes, Carsland is made up, but it pretty much appears exactly as it does in the films. There's almost nothing new in the theme park that wasn't already a part of the franchise, which is one of my biggest complaints about it (why spend the money for a Disney trip to see Radiator Springs when you could just pop in the DVD?) The Toy Story land seems to take elements from the films and combine them into a new experience for a land, similar to what was done in HKDL and WDSP. It's pretty effective at making you feel like you're in a distinct location, even if it's one you haven't seen before. The existing ones were clearly done on limited budgets and this appears to be the same, but they're still enjoyable. I just wish that they could have found a way to do them so that a non-Toy Story attraction could potentially fit in at some point in the future >>I understand the park needs family rides, but all this Toy Story kind of annoys<< In general, I'm annoyed by all the Toy Story everywhere and have been for the last 20 years (has it really been that long since the first film came out!?). The Buzz and Woody from the first film aren't especially likeable characters, and it's hard to build sympathy for them. Each film in the series got progressively better, but I still am not a big fan of them. Similar to Snow White, it seems like a huge part of their popularity is because they were the first, not because they were from a particularly great film

Based on the exposed tracks of the roller coaster alone (which they're trying to play off as Andy's "build a coaster" playset...yah, sure), I can say that this won't meet that expectation. That's not to say that it won't be enjoyable, or help fill a desperately needed gap in the park's attraction roster, but it will disappoint anybody who goes in expecting that On the bright side, it seems like it should be pretty quick to build. They're already working on the extra capacity for TSMM and the new stuff appears to be in currently-backstage/unused space (flipping the TSMM entrance to what's currently the backside of the building), so hopefully they can get it built quickly. I see no reason that this would take any more than 18 months from ground breaking, but could be done much faster than that (6-8 months with a reasonable rush, 12 months comfortably)

That being said, I'm also more worried with this announcement. Star Wars Land fills the area by Star Tours, I get it. Toy Story Land will fill the Backlot tour gap. I get it. However, that still leaves a lot of empty at the park right now an no announcement. Animation Courtyard, including One Man's Dream and that dumb Jack Sparrow thing, is all free space. What will go there? Will Muppets remain, or is that in killing zone for Star Wars. Now, we are in this "in the middle" period that worries/excites/stresses me. What will this park become?!

The park's name change is one of Disney's worst kept secrets (Iger himself letting it slip when pressured by Gideon), and it's widely assumed that it's going to be done as part of a park-wide rebranding and rebuilding, including the changes to the parking configuration. In addition to the empty zone around the Animation Courtyard, there will also be a dead zone where Lights, Motors, Action! currently sits. Part of the space (presumably) shown in the Toy Story concept art is used for rehearsals and getting the cars up to speed. Once that is gone, they'll have to do something with the show itself, and that's enough space for another land of its own. Something tells me they're not ready to tell us everything yet...

Among the wide variety of scenery along the way, it looks like there's a Tinker Toy version of the Tower of the Four Winds that sat outside it's a small world at the 1964 World's Fair; the toy version is near the top of the big lift hill, inside the little loop of track It also looks like there will be a version of Big Al's Toy Barn, a Woody's Roundup area that might possibly have meet & greets or an interactive trail, relocated entrance to TSMM, quick service restaurant, and another building (bathrooms?) Based on the entrance to the land, they appear to be demolishing the Jack Sparrow/Narnia building for the new path. The backside of the land has a path that splits in two, which makes it look like there will definitely be something other than LMA back there

And who doesn't like roller coasters much better than the other three are right the other toy story lands have

Meh. I have trouble getting too worked up about this. From the moment they announced this, I had low expectations, and this seems to be just about what I was expecting. I'm sure the coaster will be enjoyable, but I'm not sure it's what the park really needs
