I agree, it looks more like the recent Mickey shorts than the style of the comic books. Either way, I'm glad that they're giving it a unique look. Hopefully that means they're willing to bring a new approach to the characters and stories as well. The worst thing that happened to Mickey was his increasing blandness from the 50's through the 00's, to the point that he didn't have any personality left; it seems like that won't be a problem here

David Tennant visited DL and got his obligatory photo with Scrooge McDuck:

Hopefully Scrooge (and even Huey, Dewey, and Louie) will make more appearances in the parks with this series. He was always one of my favorites!

Does this make Scrooge McDuck a Time Lord like Snoopy?

I've watched the SDCC panel and one of the producers said, that The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck were a mandatory reading material for the series. Don Rosa's biography of Scrooge is the best Disney comic work ever, so I'm getting more and more excited about the new series.

I like the new look for these characters. I also like the new Mickey and Minnie Mouse character design. That will be replacing 'The Great Movie Ride.'

On the weekend the pilot episode of DuckTales was released in the US. Did anyone see the first episode? How was it?

I had it on while I was doing some housework. It was a lot of fun! Although I know I watched the original series when I was younger, I really don't remember much about it beyond the most basic premise, so I can't say how faithful this is to it, but I enjoyed it. The characters were lively and relatable, without being one-dimensional

If there's a downside, it seems like it's the kind of show that could fall into the trap of having ever-more crazy plots taking place in unrealistic settings (or in a character's imagination), which has been the downfall of many long-running animated series. It works well as an occasional plot device, but can become overused quickly. Then again, similar to Ducktales, Phineas & Ferb also had a concept that would make it really easy to go down that path but mostly avoided it, so there is hope.

In general, it looks like it will be a good addition to Disney's lineup!

That's good to read. Unfortunately over here we have to wait until 2018 to see the new DuckTales.

Disney does post new episodes of Ducktales on youtube. You might need a vpn to see them though.

Since the Disney XD YouTube channel is geo locked over here, I might need a VPN.

Whenever I open this thread up I have the Duck Tales theme song go through my head. :D

I've seen the show and enjoyed it. The ten year old is obsessed with it.

Do they still have Launchpad McQuack as a character?

They do. However everyone keeps wondering how Launchpad learned to fly.

I've caught a few more episodes of this in the last few days, and it's definitely a lot of fun. If you have the chance, it's definitely worth checking out!

I'm definitely in the minority here. We tried to watch an episode of this and just couldn't get past the animation style. Even David Tennant in all his Glaswegian glory couldn't stop me from changing the channel.
