Tomorrow we will be on our way to Disneyland Paris. Although there are many refurbishments going on for the 25th Anniversary next year, we can't wait to see Europe's Magic Kingdom again. Additionally we wanted to use our annual passes again before they expire. This time we will also do a day trip to Paris. Of course a trip report will come after we returned next week!
Hope you have a good time! Hopefully all the refurbishments don't get in the way too much I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes, since I'll be there in just 2 weeks! It's crazy that it's so soon!
We have just seen Mickey and the Magician. What a great show. One of the best Disney shows ever. @FerretAfros make sure to watch it.
I'll add it to our list! Especially the first day in the parks (before the half marathon) we'll want to stay off our feet as much as possible, so sitting for a show sounds like a great idea
Last weekend we returned from another great trip to Disneyland Paris. We spent four days at Europe's Magic Kingdom and one day in the city of beautiful Paris. Weather wise we were really lucky, because it was warm and sunny the whole week, except for Thursday when it rained in the morning. Despite many refurbishments for DLP's 25th Anniversary next year, we had a lot of fun and a fantastic time and we can't already wait to return next year. Like during our last trips we drove to Paris and stayed at the Relais Spa Chessy in Val d'Europe. It was our third and that hotel and it gets always better. Since last year they offer a shuttle service to the parks and besides the friendly employees that's the main reason we stay there. We have annual passes for DLP and so staying off site is also much cheaper than staying in a Disney Hotel. The only downside of the shuttle service is, that it starts running at 08:30, but DLP opens at 08:00 for hotel guests and annual pass holders. So we had to walk in the morning, because we like DLP in the morning, when it's still quiet and empty. Disneyland in the morning is truly something special. The walk from the hotel to the parks takes about 25 minutes, but since it was a nice walk during sunset, we didn't mind that at all. DLP always had a much tighter security system than the US parks, but thanks to the terrorist attacks last year, they improved it even more. But thanks to scanners for bags and people like at airports, it never escaleted in such a chaos like at WDW and DL, where it takes them for ages to check the bags. I know that it might not make DLP safer, but these scanners and all the security people gave us a much safer feeling. I will not write a day to day trip report, but I will share our highlights, but also the few disappointments: - The first highlight was a newly refurbished castle without the Christmas lights on the spires. The castle looked just stunning. - For the first time we did Panoramagique, the balloon in Disney Village that gives you a great view over the whole resort. I can totally recommend that experience. By the way the balloon in Paris came before WDW's. According to the employee there, both are operated by the same French company. - Earl of Sandwich was a huge disappointment last year, but they bounced back and it's possible again to veganize the sandwiches. - Rock'n'Roller Coaster: We rode it eight times and on each ride the speakers were working and the building was filled with smoke. A fast coaster + a fantastic band with cool music + working effects equals a really cool attraction. By the way, what did Disney cut at WDW from Aerosmith? - Mickey and the Magician: Basically it's a best of show, but it is done in such a great way. This show is a big winner for DLP and while I enjoyed Animagique a lot, the new show is so much better. Once there was even standing ovations. Only Frozen feels a bit forced into the show. - RC Racer: We just love the ride. There's nothing more to say. - Castmembers: It seems DLP found it's way when it comes to casting their employees. Like in last years, friendly and helpful. - Sports Bar: It's definitely not among Disney's most beautiful bars, but it's such a relxing place, especially the outside seating area. - Cafe Fantasia inside DLH: My favourite place in the whole Disney universe. We went there twice and always ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. - Agrabah Cafe: Our favourite restaurant at DLP. It's a buffet restaurant that serves Oriental food. This year we have only eaten there once, but it was delicious. - Ratatouille: I still love the ride. - Merchandise: I finally got an Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril t-shirt in small. DLP offers a much bigger selection of tsumtsums than DL Anaheim and of course we got some of them. - Swiss Family Tree House: newly refurbished and it looks beautiful. - Disney Dreams: As great as always. - Paris: As beautiful as ever. Disappointments: - Castmembers behind the counters at fast food restaurants. It takes them forever to get the food ready. - Tower of Terror: Great ride, but on two days they only operated one elevator and so the lines were pretty long. - Studio Tour: One word: boring! - Some Guests: I don't know what's wrong with some people, but apparently at Disney people leave their manners behind. It doesn't matter if you are at WDW, DLA, DLP or on a Disney Cruise, some people are just rude and annoying. Now we are looking forward to the 25th Anniversary next year. We will go in Spring instead of Autumn, because we will be in Ohio and Toronto in September. Photos will come later on my blog.
Glad you enjoyed your trip! I'm looking forward to seeing it myself in a couple days! WDW actually added something, in a weird twist. There was a part where Steven Tyler made an "obscene" hand gesture (one that's typically played for laughs among teenage boys, in my experience), and Disney digitally added a finger to his hand to make it go away. Considering it had been there for 17 years without any complaints (though plenty of giggles among those teenage boys), it seems like an odd thing to finally go back and change. Now it just looks like he's using his full hand to block the glare from his eyes, like how a normal person would do it
Thanks for clarifying. I would have never noticed an "obscene" gesture. Are the videos shown at DLP and WDW the same?
Here are part 1 and part 2 of my DLP trip report: Traveling: Disneyland Paris 2016 - Part 1 Traveling: Disneyland Paris 2016 - Part 2
Disneyland Paris is probably the most beautiful version of a Disneyland park. I will go there someday!
I've only visited three Disneyland Parks so far, but I have to agree. The main park is really beautiful and in my opinion the most beautiful castle park. So you should really visit!!
It sounds like you had a great trip. I think a lot of your comments match mine from my recent trip. From memory the RnRc videos at WDW and DLP are completely different as the attractions technically have different backstories.
It has only been one and a half year since we have been to WDW, but I really can't remember the Aerosmith video from DHS.
Here are the remaining parts: Traveling: Disneyland Paris 2016 - Part 5 Traveling: Disneyland Paris 2016 - Part 6
I haven't been to WDW in years, but there the video is just a visit to a recording studio before Aerosmith are whisked away to get across town for a concert. In WDSP the guys are actually looking at ideas for a rollercoaster so the themes are quite different. I'm not sure if there's any crossover between the two videos at all.
@u k fan Thanks for clarifying. I remember the part with the limousine. While I like WDW's theming in general better, the ride experience in Paris is better, especially with the lights and the smoke.
We just booked our next trip to Disneyland Paris. Since our Annual Pass is expiring in June, we decided to go during the first week in June. For the first time in einght years we are going to stay at a Disney Hotel again. We chose the Cheyenne, because we like the new refurbished rooms.
