I think they have bigger plans for the whole area, but right now they have to keep it very simple because of lack of money. I'm pretty sure that in the future Disney and the RER operator will put a real building on that spot. I can imagine that WDI has a masterplan for a remodeling of the whole Disney Village. Right now they just want to add a second entrance to accommodate the crowds.
New concept art for the Disney FanDayz promotion shows Max doing a concert in his Powerline outfit. I know that A Goofy Movie tends to get overlooked and it wasn't an official animated feature, but that scene is one of the most iconic Disney moments IMO (I may be giving my age away with that ). I don't even care what the rest of the event is like, I wish I could go just for this!
The Disney FanDaze events sound really nice, there's even one with Imagineering, but the prices are insane.
Looks like Paris got some snow earlier this week. It all looks great, but I especially enjoy seeing the jungles of Adventure Island covered in snow. Logically it shouldn't make sense, but the way it's designed it just works
D23 Japan revealed that RNRC is getting redone to an Iron Man theme. The wording of the article implies something about HKDL's Iron Man Experience, but I think it's just the coaster redo coming to Paris https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2018/02/11/major-parks-announcements-d23-expo-japan/ I'm not a fan of simply overlaying existing attractions, especially popular ones, since it doesn't add anything to the park's capacity or number of experience. I agree that the current RNRC theme isn't perfect, but I would have rather seen something new for this sad little park, rather than just redecorating what they already have. At the very least, I hope they'll upgrade the Production Courtyard area to look more like something that belongs in a Disney theme park Conspicuously absent from this announcement is an announcement about TOT becoming GOTG. With the overhaul beginning in about a month, it sounds like the original theme will stay
At first I was a little bit disappointed, because not only do I like Aerosmith as a band, but I also liked the ride a lot. However the ride at DHS is a cheap attraction and WDSP's version is even cheaper, but the coaster was always a lot of fun. I think after over 15 years it's time for something new. I'm still suprised it took Disney so long to do that, since the Marvel movies are pretty successful. Given DLP's financial situation I do understand that there will not be something new for quite some time, but maybe this is the beginning of a bigger Marvel land, which I would like to see rather sooner than later. As for TOT becoming GOTG I read on a French site that the GOTG makeover is not going to happen. It looks like the Tower will stay as it is, at least for now.
Is the Paris ToT a replica of WDW or DLR (prior to GotG layover)? I didn't get to experience that ride the last time I was there.
The Tower in Paris, like the one in Tokyo, is a replica of the California Adventure version, at least from the outside. Due to European construction codes the version in Paris is made of concrete instead of steele. And if I'm not mistaken the one in Japan is also made of concrete.
New DLP update! La Gazette: Un resort sous la neige ! La Gazette: La Marvelisation de Disneyland Paris est en marche !
Have they announced a theme for the new hotel? The layout looks similar to the Value hotels in WDW, which is keeping my expectations pretty low I'm glad to see that the Mark Twain is still around and floating. It obviously needs a lot of work to make it a viable attraction again, but it's reassuring that it hasn't been scrapped completely. I hope this is something they can work on in the near future, but I'm honestly not expecting much
Wow! There is a lot going on over there right now. It might be worth forking over the cash to do another trip to France once it is all said and done.
Mickey is being featured on euro coins, in honor of his 90th birthday. As far as I know, this is the first time any Disney imagery has been featured on actual currency, which is pretty neat (lots of Disney stuff has been on US postage stamps, which are currency by a very old fashioned definition, but that doesn't really count). I don't know how easy it would be to happen upon one of these coins, but it would make for a fun memento! www.leparisien.fr/culture-loisirs/mickey-s-invite-sur-vos-pieces-de-monnaie-19-03-2018-7616625.php
You'll have to take a pic of one if you happen upon one. I'm curious to see what they actually look like.
I'd be surprised if this means we're getting IJA. More likely it'll be something Dinosaur themed to replace the existing attraction. It could still be headed for Adventureland though...
I've been following the rumors of WDW's Dinosaur-to-Indy conversion for a while, and I'm just not sure it makes sense. While the existing ride isn't perfect, it's pretty darn good and consistently draws a big crowd. Swapping out the theme couldn't draw many more guests to the ride, since it's already operating at/near capacity, wouldn't do anything to extend the guests' day in the park, and would only serve to increase crowding in the park. They really need 2-3 new things in that park, not a redress of what's there (and none of this is to discuss how Indiana Jones and dinosaurs are two disparate themes that really don't work well together) My hope is that they are working on developing an actual addition to the park (there have been long-running rumors that Chester & Hester's Dinorama may be replaced soon), and whatever that is could be copied/adapted for DLP. Something related to dinosaurs could easily be adapted into Adventureland or Frontierland, so there's a lot they could do. As fun as the Indy ride is (when everything is working properly, it's one of Disney's finest attractions anywhere), it's over 20 years old at this point, so I'd hope for something a little more cutting-edge at DLP
If they were to retheme the whole dinosaur area it would make more sense. Chester & Hester's was pretty darn empty when I was there last week, and it seems like they could do so much more with that area. Since it's in AK maybe they could do a Zootopia kind of thing? Retheme Dinosaur into a Zootopia police chase in the different areas of town. Just a thought...
I don't think Zootopia is a good fit for DAK. DAK celebrates the real world, while Zootopia uses an overly-stylized world and anthropomorphized animals as an allegory for the human condition. While the park does have a decent number of film-based attractions, those all feature animals that act as animals; rather than the humanesque critters in Robin Hood, the park highlights more natural films like The Lion King. Zootopia is a great movie with a lot of depth to it, but it doesn't really match the tone of the park for me
