Personally I think that the Angels are using this as a negotiation ploy to get a better rate from Anaheim, but let's play a game of What IF. What if the Angels leave and Disney is able to purchase or at lease the land from the city? This would open up a totally new configuration of how the Disneyland resort could grow. The Angels stadium along with it's parking lot is roughly the size of Disneyland and the DCS. A massive park could be put into this space without any problems. This would also leave the Toy Story parking lot available for a different type of expansion. I would personally think that two large hotels could be put onto this location and then tie together all the locations with a monorail (mass transits) system. What do you all think?
That's an interesting thought. I wonder if Disney and Anaheim could trust each other at the moment given recent events. It would be great to see Walt's monorail put to an expanded and practical use.
I agree with @Marlin Perkins that the biggest issue would be the relationship between the city council and Disney. I think it would be a wonderful opportunity though...who knows maybe WestCOT could happen??
This WHAT IF assumes that Disney and the City Council comes to terms. As for WestCOT, I think that idea has died of old age. Look at how they are gutting EPCOT right now. What other types of parks would you like to see if this were to happen?
I'm attempting to think outside of an IP box here. How about a park where they bring back the "classic" rides from the original park? Bring back the Skyway, Adventure through Inner Space, Pack Mules (revamp this one a bit) or the Rainbow Cavern Mine Train, Big Thunder Ranch, and Country Bear Jamboree or America Sings just to name a few. Name it NostalgiaLand or something silly like that. Not a lot of cohesion in my idea...I know, but it is what it is...LOL!
I think that is an excellent idea! Most of us get a little nostalgic, so why not? And, Disney loves to recycle. There's a website called Yesterland that is very popular. Or, maybe they could make it a new version of California Adventure so that they can just be done with it. They've been trying to transform CA into PixarLand (or whatever) for awhile now. They could create a new CA using the same California themed attractions, Walt and studio history, and Disneyland history (Stealing your idea, they could add some of the extinct attractions).
