It all looks great, but I don't want to pay $7 a month for it. Looks like it is very Marvel heavy. I might consider it if it were more along the lines of imagineering and how things are done/behind the scenes kind of things though.
I wouldn't call it crap. It is a very solid list to start with. But is it enough to get people to pay them that much per month? I do not think that this will kill netflix, but CBS and some other pay services might be in trouble.
"By the end of year one, Disney+ will house more than 7,500 episodes of television and 500 movies." Not bad, for $7 a month. That is to say, obviously, if you are a big Disney fan. And for me, if all of the classics remain permanently on the list and are available on demand. However, that doesn't seem to be Disney's typical way of doing business. I've purchased digital copies of Disney/Pixar movies on Amazon, just to have them vanish into thin air whenever Disney decides I've owned them long enough. Sometimes I threaten to hook my old VCR back in.
It doesn't sound terrible, but it also doesn't excite me much. When I've heard the concept rattled around for several years, the most promising element was the ability to dig into the vault and watch a bunch of the old live-action films and TV shows. While that may still be an element of it, we've heard remarkably little about it. I understand that there's a limited demand for a lot of those product, so they may not be featured heavily in advertising, but there isn't much I've seen so far that entices me. At least the price seems reasonable (for now) I'm glad I was able to get physical copies of a lot of the older stuff in the 00's, when they seemed more interested in giving people access to them. And with a physical copy, it's not going to disappear in favor of the latest flavor of the month
There are people who seem pretty excited about it, but it's certainly no Netflix killer. Too "family-centric" for that. Overall I'm not really interested in Disney+ at this point in time. The only things that intrigue me are the SparkShorts, which I've seen a few of on Youtube recently (seriously, if you haven't seen Kitbull yet do so immediately! But be prepared to cry your eyes out). Also the Imagineering/Ink & Paint documentary things look cool, but it's not enough to get me to start up yet another monthly subscription service. I already have a rather extensive hard copy collection of Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars (not a big Marvel fan), so having all of that stuff in their library doesn't entice me. Although it brings up an interesting question...will Disney actually still SELL dvds/blu-rays of their latest releases, or will they now just make everyone sign up for Disney+ if they want to see anything Disney/Pixar/Star Wars/Marvel after its original theater run?
So I have every episode of the anthology series but 6....Would like to see a large part of my life's collection work in great streaming quality, not 9th generation VHS copies.... No, 1955 Mickey Mouse Club, no money from the croc.
I've heard others raise the same concern. I wonder too if the content is commercial free.....HAHAHAHA! Yeah, right....
