For me, Mother's Day is a bittersweet time. I'd say more, but I don't want to make anybody else melancholy. (Of course, if you're like "Jaques," from As You Like It, and actually like being melancholy, I can accommodate you.)
This Mother's Day is very bittersweet for us indeed. We went out to lunch with our lovely daughter and her beautiful children; followed by a visit to the nursing home where Rod's mother is staying as we work to find a permanent home for her. My own mother died years ago but she was so far past her time that I was happier for her than I was sad for myself.
