This season of You Must Remember This, Karina Longworth's history of Hollywood podcast, is all on Song of the South, and I cannot recommend it enough. I'm not a big podcast listener—I get bored quickly and I don't enjoy a lot of the back-and-forth banter between hosts. But this is different. It's just her narrating, with some clips from interviews or films, and it's engaging and consistently interesting. If you want to find out why this show isn't released by Disney, and why the usual "everybody was racist back then" defenses don't work, you'll want to listen to this.
