Update on Disneyland Resort Operations Hotels and Downtown Disney will remain open until March 16. Disney says it will continue to pay castmembers, and I certainly hope they stick to that. I worry about servers, hotel staff, and others that rely on tips as part of their income. What a strange few days it's been, and I fear it's only going to get worse for a few weeks.
Here is the directive. California Public Health Experts: Mass Gatherings Should be Postponed or Canceled Statewide to Slow the Spread of COVID-19 – Cal OES News The LAPhil has canceled all Disney Hall events through the end of the month as well.
This announcement really hit me upside the head. I think I had convinced myself that as long as Disneyland is open things can't be that bad. I do feel for so many employees. My daughter lives in the Seattle area and the school where she teaches is closing and she does not yet know if she will get paid or have to take an *alternate* job.
I was also shocked when I heard this. But in thinking about it, it is the right thing to do. Closed for a few weeks is not so bad. I will have to fire up Disney+ to get my Disney fix for the next few weeks.
Good. I honestly couldn't believe they stayed open this long. Thinking good thoughts and hopes for all my lp pals.
Truth be told, I wasn't planning on going to DL again until either (a) RotR is no longer quite so choked, or (b) they decided to run the MSEP again. Hopefully, they will take advantage of the extended closure to take care of deferred maintenance, and/or fast-track some planned improvements. This morning, the word came down at the Printing Museum: we're canceling tomorrow's Book Arts Patch Day for Girls(TM).
What was weird was watching how many people were there as it closed on youtube. If it's being closed because of high risk of infection, why would anyone go there? Idiocracy was a documentary.
Are the hotels outside of disneyland closed also? Like could I go stay at the Candy Cane Inn right now if I wanted to?
