There is a 40% increase to covid-19 cases in the past two weeks in orange county. (just heard it on the news) Do you think that it is too early open the park? Or are you just happy to be able to go back to the park?
Possibly. Of course, they could always cancel. Or city and/or county officials could overrule (yes, I know, rather unlikely in Orange County). Some days ago, I got an email from a church, announcing that they would be reopening for in-person worship THIS Sunday. I replied with an email telling them to remove me from their email list, and announcing that they would be removed from my rotation for the duration of the current pastor's tenure. It wasn't terribly difficult, given that his pre-recorded Easter Sunday sermon was in execrable taste.
The other question that I am waiting for Disney to answer is how are they going to handle so many Annual Passholders wanting to get come to the park. If we look at the over seas parks they have dropped their top attendance to about 25% of normal per day. If AP tries to get in it will takes months before we could all get a reservation. What happens if I want to go twice in one month, is that alright? You can see where I'm going with this.
I see a LOT of potential complications. I think most things are reopening too soon. I want Disneyland and other places I love to be open as much as anyone. But I just wonder where we are going. Have we flattened the curve enough so it is just a matter of when we get Covid and not if? This news is especially poignant to me as we were supposed to be there then. But as senior citizens it will be quite a while before we will feel safe and comfortable in places where there are so many people touching so many things. (And I am not germophobic!)
So, the spike this week shows that we opened to early. These are the memorial day cases, then we will have the protest bumps. I think Disneyland is opening waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to soon and I don't want to see people die or get sick after going there...under best of situations we would catch a cold or the sniffles half the time we went there anyway.
It does not happen to me very often but one year we were driving home (a normal 5-6 hour drive that took 9 hours) through horrendous post-Thanksgiving traffic. I turned to my husband and said, "I hope you can make it all the way home 'cause I am not going to be able to drive." I fell asleep and did not wake up until we pulled into our driveway. I was sick for 3 days. It hit me so hard and fast I could not believe it. I love the Parks but want to survive to go again!
Anyone taking bets on the opening on July 17? With the unions asking the state to hold back I would now give it a 50/50 change.

I have to agree that the decision not to open so soon is appropriate. Especially for CM's. Visitors have a choice. I have been contemplating starting a *how are you handling everything* thread in WE just so we can get into things that in the past (and maybe still) could get us Redlined.
We are planning to open at the Printing Museum next month. But except on special event days and with prearranged groups, we rarely have more people than we could safely accommodate under present conditions, and we're certainly not expecting to have to turn people away. (And of course, we already have plenty of proctologist's gloves, although we usually use them for washing up presses.)
